Looks odd. Mountain LX was '89-only but the '89 Bear Valley was black, then in '90 they went Zolatone. That colour looks more mid-90s. And the forks are bent.

Yeah, that was my bad, it slipped slightly on the first attempt. Scuffing on the right crank for the same reason. I'd be a lot more careful on anything that's a keeper. I'm not sure if MSYT wants them back, but if not, they're karma to anyone else that wants them.

Use spacers of some kind - I've used allen keys in the past - to let you grip the flats in a vice. Then whack the end of the crank with a mallet to break the thread free. I've done this several times.
