    Anyone into classic cars

I finally replaced the 15 year old rubber and steelies/hub caps: Legendary HB45 with spinners by Rented Mule, on Flickr

    2005 Rotec RL9 rebuild

I just found a picture of the cockpit of that bike and the levers had "CODE 5" on them. I haven't used many Avid/SRAM brakes, so I'm not familiar with the different lever styles. IMG00361-20120208-1932 by Rented Mule, on Flickr I also don't remember what pads I put in them, so the difference...

    2005 Rotec RL9 rebuild

I ran Codes on my VPFree years ago and found them underwhelming. They had decent modulation, but seemed to lack power compared to other setups. Does swapping levers change the feel?

    My M1 restoration

Looking forward to seeing this progress! I think I'm just about ready for paint on mine as well. The mock up stage was more work than I expected, but it's almost there.

How do you build your vintage frames?

I try to use period correct(ish) parts, but the parts I would have had at that time if I could have afforded them. I'll often finish a build using whatever parts I have available in the shop and then pick away at making it 'correct' later on. Sometimes I just build something with parts I think...

    Anyone recognise these cranks

I think Sugino rebranded them as Strong Arms for Specialized.

1999 Rock Shox SID XC compatibility with modern disc brakes?

I have a few SIDs of that era with modern discs on them. Lots of adapters available to fit whatever configuration of caliper mount you have and whatever rotor size you want.

For Sale salsa rasta skewers and seat clamp

Bumping an old thread here... any chance you still have these and are willing to ship to Canada?

    Wot happened to fat bikes

I don't put many miles on my fat bike (rigid 26" wheel Specialized FatBoy) but it's an absolute hoot to ride - it's the bike version of a monster truck. I tow my kids around in their sleds and ride with them while they cross country ski in the winter. It's just as fun in the summer as a change...

2009 Brooklyn Machine Works Park Bike v2

Stunner! The combination of parts is just perfect. I've owned several cars worth less than those pedals :D

Saddles - what else is there apart from Flites/Selle Italia that are cool/retro/

I'll be the odd one out and suggest a Koobi Au Enduro. I still have one that I've been riding since 1999 and several other Koobi's that I love. It was the first saddle I used that I still found comfortable after a full day of riding.

    Dekerf Team SL build

I've also seen lots with the logo on the fork - it must be a Dekerf option. I'm sort of split on the look. The matching fork makes the package a bit too monochromatic in some ways, but I do like that it's true to Dekerf's original aesthetic options. I'm sure it will look awesome either way.

Norwegian" Intense M1 Shaun Palmer Tribute bike "NOT the USA Flag bike" :)

My M1 also lives among Trek Y's (although neither as nice as that) - You have excellent taste in bikes sir.

    All things Canadian.....

It's still a beauty though! Love that pale blue with the blacked out wheelset 👍

    Dekerf Team SL build

Beauty - I think RF cranks would pair well with the Z2

    Specialised FST Comp

I used an cheap ($10) Amazon rear disc adapter on a slightly later model FSR and it worked well: FSR rear disc by Rented Mule, on Flickr I don't have a better picture of the brake setup, but it was easy.

1999 Jamis Komodo - satisfying zero $ refurb

I bought a 1999 Komodo sight-unseen from the original owner for the equivalent of 45 pounds and had it dropped at a relative's garage a while back. It looked ok in pictures and had good parts (XT/XTR), but it was in rough shape. It was covered in a fine black overspray from when he had painted...

    Spinergy RevX

They list at around $500-600 USD on Ebay and they seem to sell in most of the auctions I watch. I think you'd be on the higher end of that scale with the condition and adapter.

    Specialised FST Comp

I'm pretty sure D521's can be used with rim brakes, so you could rebuild them onto non-disc hubs if you wanted. You could also just run them with rim brakes as-is without changing the hubs and retain the option to swap to discs later if you wanted. I really like those FSR's, good luck with the...

Wanted Schwalbe Nobby Nic 26 x 2.25 bronze sidewall

I know these exist, but I cannot find them... Anyone know a source? The 26x2.4 version I have doesn't quick clear the chainstays on my Dekerf and I would very much like the 2.25 to match the front tire. I'd also consider another bronze Schwalbe with an aggressive tread pattern (not a Billy...
