    Thick as Thieves

My mate jamie had his mini metro stolen, reported it to the police, but they found in 2 streets away with the doors left open. The thieves had given up🤣

    Thick as Thieves

The Strida! 3 Tubes, a couple of wheels and a rubber band! Hard for a thief to conceptualise how stealing one would improve his lot for the day🤣 I have used a couple, it's a lot of fun if you don't mind looking like an idiot and avoiding hills.😃

    Reasonable ?Ritchey mish mash

Looks like the Nickel plated with tange tubes mtb frame, late 90s available trade unbranded from Casa Masferrer wholesale? Built a nice bike.

We should have all collected tyres

Be ok if they were structurally sound, like many metal parts

Anyone have details on how the Avocet 30 cyclocomputer magnet ring works?

So the magnet will induce a current in the pickup, and i imagine it then reads the frequency...but it's possible it reads the voltage. If the sensor is faulty, its hard to imagine a fix, although it might just be a small coil

We should have all collected tyres

They aren't for riding! That'd be like opening your bottle of Chateau Lafitte 1927🤣 "Showpiece" tyres. But still I find that perishing sidewall unpleasant to look at🙁

You ain't got nothing? you got nothing to lose. As people endlessly tell me "They can steal anything if they want to" But you judge the risk and act accordingly. You should treat a 1/10 risk different to a 1/10,000. (The motorcyclists here will be very aware of that. If not, you're dead...

    Thick as Thieves

The lock needs to be too hard to break to just ride home, and the bike too hard to sell. We did have a customer yesterday whose decent lock was actually cut through by it was a modern 4k bike so someone made a special trip. 🙄

    Lightest Steel Frame?

A lot of frame weights in those days were somewhat speculative. Happy to bet if someone locates one of those bianchi frames it's a fair bit heavier.

    Wanted XTR front mech

970 looks almost identical, but came with dual pull cable, oh and a steel backplate!

    Cable routing help

Those outer 2 need to stay the same side of the head tube because the stops are so close. That bend in the ferrules will lead to poor shifting, as well as looking awful.

    V-Brake bosses issue

I've seen a few broken bosses on 20yo Forks. A few, out of probably 10,000. The weak spot is where the boss mount joins the fork blade. So a replaceable boss could still break - the advantage would be in build quality not construction style. If one cracks, say in 2050, you could always...

    BMW

Collectable crossover factor doubles the value. Bmw/ bike. It's like the bsa parabike. A fairly common, fairly basic machine, fetches over 1k easy in reasonable nick.

    Thick as Thieves

My colleague advertised his beetle on FB, some guys came round, seemed keen - went away to "think about it" Came back in the middle of the night with a trailer. Loaded it up badly, it rolled off on the first corner into his neighbours garden. Thieves scarpered. 7am, very angry...
