    Retro bikes we've spotted

Very interestingly it had what appeared to be an Ahead stem with remnants of an Ibis logo on top. I was confused - for a late 80's bike?! Mombat says this: The Avion was the imported from Japan for Ibis and was the more "entry level" model. This is a NOS frame with a mostly NOS Shimano Deore...

    Retro bikes we've spotted

My 'burner' Nokia doesn't do photos - let's do a spot of imagining! Cambridge, UK, this afternoon, a cool 18" I suppose mid-blue MTB with chainstay U-brake. Ibis. Really?! 'Avion' it said on the top tube. A mixture of XT and 6-speed shifters. Rusty chain. Tange pink label. A student...

Sorted Feelers out for overly cut-down but 'nice' handlebars

You go Indie into the Shed of Doom (in your own time!) to see what turns up!

Sorted Feelers out for overly cut-down but 'nice' handlebars

Thanks Yetichaser, but I shoulda said, I'm a slight tightwad, for this project anyway, so £20-ish for something some would say was 'butchered' yet nice was where I was at :)

Sorted Feelers out for overly cut-down but 'nice' handlebars

Wondering if there's something 'nice' in silver or black tucked-away in your caves please that have been cut-down 'too much' and you wouldn't otherwise use nowadays. Super-narrow, as was the fashion for a while, especially in the world of couriering. Decent Easton. Taperlite. Hyperlite if...

Do Konas have matching serials on fork steerer tube and frame?

Having been in the shed trying to strip the paint of two pairs of forks partly successfully and unsuccessfully (with off the shelf gel stripper - another thread in itself I'm sure!) I noted the serial stamped on the P2 fork. It came with a 91 Explosif. It has, underneath black overspray, the...

Very Long Threaded 1" P2 Fork with Free Kona Africa Bike 3 - North Oxford

The frame's cool - I just noted the 'BMX' style bottom bracket? Can that be upgraded/ watcha gonna do with it? Deserves some XTR hehehe

Riding No Handed in London earns you a ticket?

What would the London City Bobbies have to say about the IT Bike? :D I'd say it was my human right to activate my unicycle in such a way!

    RBG's Steve Goff M1 Rasta 🫥

Really nice result. Talk us through the primer and paints. It's a minefield for the home sprayer. I've got a 2K MIPA primer aerosol lined-up for some forks.

    Kona Joe murray kilauea

Ouch, one damp garage or by the sea. Poor thing.

    Free poorly kona cindercone ox14

I don't think it belongs to Siish - I feel he came across the advert. As for seatpost nothing a dose of caustic wouldn't cure - just be prepared for overflow and a respray! Fun fun!

Which shimano cantilevers will work best with my Univega?

Of course things have developed, but who buys Weldtite or similar unless it's for a kids bike? Find a brand - Koolstop/ Aztec forget about it. It's not like one needs 'racing pads' like in a track car. Similarly who'd buy the best stopping cantilever pad in the world that could flip you over...

Which shimano cantilevers will work best with my Univega?

I've never come across distinctions between pads, other than KoolStop and Aztec will let you know about how 'good' their compounds are. Ceramic rim-use pads of course. Pads is pads yes?! All depends if you want 'cool' cantis, or cantis more date-specific. Both types work well. I rate 732...
