Harry Hill's 1954 AS Gillott (Ron Cooper Frame)

Re: Just so. I posted hastily and over-confidently on evidence that would no doubt have been rejected out of hand by anyone intimate with Gillotts and Rotraxes.... I am a bad detective, and will butt out.. :)

...of a beautiful machine. Sadly, others are right about what it might fetch. Above a grand is definitely pushing it. I say this as a total Rotrax nut (1954 Concours; 1951 Vel d'Hiv; 1957 La Premiere and a 1949 Super Course). None are restored to that standard but all fantastic to ride and look...

    Mystery frame 2

...brake bridge , if original, rules out a really high-end frame. Still a very decent frame though. Nice fork crown too. May well be a top end Viking, probably not Rotrax (unbushed brake bridge). The style of head lug (horns pre c55, fishtail later) could narrow down the age. Hope this helps.

...my frame resprayed back in the 60s and was sent decals from the importer - Evian GB limited, who also sold all the Stronglight, Simplex and Mafac parts. I always wanted a matching track frame but could not find one, so had a Rotrax frame made in the Helyett colours. That one I still have...

Re: Rotrax 'Concours' - 1959 - Road / Track Hi Dave. Thanks for the comments and link to your own, or what was once your own. 1959 too! Very nice. I've not seen many Concours models, and fewer road/track ones. Nice to see another. Do you miss it? I don't doubt I'll regret selling this, it rides...

...frame is total rubbish, H Stone loves them, but he wrote a book, and claims they are ridable. I had the hugely expensive jigs, left one at Rotrax and abandoned the other when I moved the shop. For any serious rider these frames were very weak, one inch tubes and lugless construction...

    Rotrax identification and year please?

Heres my friends' neighbour's Rotrax bought from ebay a number of years ago. Ignore the 105, I'd like to know more about the year and what would have been on there. I'm sure it should have had a proper mech hanger too.

    Retro Bike Frames

Correct you are Sir, I have an affinity for Rotrax frames first for their beauty and craftsmanship (someday I will find a Rotrax Super Course) and second for their connection with speedway motorcycle racing.
