Looking for something nice, preferably around the £50 mark, for an old GT build. I've got the original, but something a little lighter (and nicer looking) would be good. Oh and preferably posted, unless you're in the Edinburgh area :)

Well, I caved and grabbed it, for much cheapness. Mostly original - 400LX group set, but XT m092 shifters for some reason. The frame flex is hysterical - probably just end up stripping it down and using the frame as a wall ornament...

...in every single one that was checked and don't want something that'll break if I actually try and ride it. How good they were/are isn't really an issue - if that was the case, I'd not be riding retro at all, but at the same time, even for a weekend's beer money, I don't want a *complete* pup...

Re: Newest purchase GT Zaskar possibly 1991? Oh crap :( Rather than try for a repair, I'd look at buying one of the later model mech hangers and find a friendly local machinist with a milling machine to make it fit. I'm not convinced you'd get any long-term strength from any repair you tried...

I think the only people who will worry about the stickers and component spec are those who don't fully appreciate what the frame represents and those people are unlikely to want to pay the price you could quite rightfully ask for it, even fully specced-up with XTR. Those who do know what it is...

It's interesting to see the weight difference between the two frames. Would be curious to see where the blue one comes in at, given that it's between the two age-wise, even if it's 7000-series alloy rather than the 6061 of the black bike. The tubing's definitely thinner-walled, to my eye...
