    a new Sport is born

I have asked myself this long before this thread. It is inevitable and also known practice throughout history despite "legal" protections. The issue is recognising the influence, origin and being upfront about it too and explain why it was the bases to extend. This is actually the whole problem...

You get a "Love" because you are passionate about it. Not sad about this whole affair .... and we know .... Bansky was actually not that arsed about Copyright and "droit d'auteur". For me he left work to be inspirational for what thus whatever purpose. If he was concerned he would be and would...

Somebody got out of bed the wrong way this Monday morning. Christ on a bike. By Friday with a good Saumur Red chilling out you will be asking this bloke for bulk shipping discounts. :p

Advice on buying first vintage road bike?

As a buyer you would be spoilt for choice if you popped over to France - pretty much the same that complete retro road bikes need to be sold off for peanuts to shift. I would say in the last two to three years all of a sudden a complete nose dive. The local bike charity can't shift them...

Dawes Edge - the sum of its parts

What a great thread and an interesting bike to begin with 👍 Some top work gone on 😍 Funny last night while being a bit ..... erm ...... overly tipsy was wondering why we don't see so many retro mods. Actually showing the financials is probably a bit taboo here (?) but for sure many people...

    1995 DJR Cyclocross

😍 There really is something to have a good quality steel frame like this in in herd. Versatile for many uses like mentioned, potential to re-use older and newer road or MTB parts and still a great balance of being very solid and lively all round for some decent distance. Tinker's delight -...

    Different size bearings??

Your missing ball bearings are probably under my fridge somewhere. It's a nightmare when it happens. My theory is when you've cleaned them, got everything greased including on your hands because you've placed most of the balls already one will be magnetically drawn under something like a...

    Different size bearings??

🤔 Looks like someone lost a couple of the larger balls under the workbench and decided to pad them out with some smaller ones.

Late 40s / Early 50s René Herse tip find

Visited a friend who lived in Seattle some 15 years ago now. A great bike vibe, but my god some areas hilly as hell. I went to one bike recycling shop to buy a smaller chain ring for her bike - got sorted quick and very social. 👍 Can appreciate over the pond there will be a different view...

Late 40s / Early 50s René Herse tip find

🤔 Always love a counter argument. So we nail it a bit. Yes, what you said is true. It is a commercial venture like the original. But it's on the back of someone who ploughed a lifetime also and did a lot too to make work it for a living. I think when you have an original RH there is a shift of...

    Vintage French randonneuer's and porteurs.

Would say @Jonny69 - live experience that we rarely (never) witness. In my mind our in-house vintage RH expert now: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/late-40s-early-50s-rené-herse-tip-find.471568/ Of course help from the usual suspects. But still. His find. His project. His work. His end...

    Latex inner tubes updated

    * COUGH * Extra Extra Light FFS. They are what is written on the packet. +/- 4 grams. Which is essential. The lower lever XL - only one Extra = Schwalbe 14 is targeted to poor unrefined people commuting at a whopping 120 grams. Good for a winter bike though. I suspect it's all from the same...
