Party bikes and their more mature, serious counterparts

What you wrote there is exactly what I mean. But it seems to go beyond just wanting to ride a certain bike. A different paint job on the same frame can encourage experimentation. Some paint jobs make you feel like you have to go completely crazy with the build and see what happens, while others...

Will you make a gif of the trees transformation over one year?

Party bikes and their more mature, serious counterparts

While writing my thread about the Centurion Lhasa Kathmandu, I noticed what a difference the paint job makes when it comes to how you perceive the bike. Whether and which stickers you put on it, where and how you ride it, and even how seriously or time-correctly you build it. I noticed this...

    Ma pépite du moutain bike

Hello and welcome to retrobike. That's a nice find you've got there! I'm starting to like 80s bikes more and more. I'm excited to see what it will look like when you're done with it. Bonjour et bienvenue sur retrobike. C'est une belle trouvaille que tu as faite là ! Les vélos des années 80...

    Today's Ride

2°C and sunshine after a rainy sunday....hmmm... I guess I'm taking the longer and more beautiful route to the office. As I'm slowly climbimg the hills out of the city... the paths get smaller and... ...the colours get more and more intense as the sun rises. A short stop on top to enjoy...

    A NEW Sour/Kona

I think the guys at sour just wanted to honor the good old steel bikes we all love. Oh and they called it Party Dome, not Pasta Dome 😉 Race high!

rBoTM October 2025 - Autumn Theme Month - All Welcome! Enter Now!!!!!!

Couldn't find more leaves as the wind was blowing and rain was incoming but here is @KayOs' "I dunno mate maybe it is an early 90's Centurion Timerace"-thing I didn't make a build thread since it was more of a spontaneous build, as the Ultegra parts were too good to throw away.

    1994 brodie badass

Still no change on the front, I still need to paint the fork. I did however change the grips and pedals and then enjoyed the beautiful autumn some days ago. I also need to find some other wheels or at least hubs. The 240S ratchet is just too loud.

    1990 Centurion Lhasa Kathmandu

Noted! You guys telling me I should post a thread is always a good idea and leads to much fun. At least on my side 😁

Indeed, I haven't found a more durable retrobike paintjob yet.

    1990 Centurion Lhasa Kathmandu

Thank you guys! Yes, compared to these two sports, it seems like the older, quieter brother who is always travelling.

    1990 Centurion Lhasa Kathmandu

In addition to the obligatory eyelets for bottle holders and front and rear racks, the bike has several other useful features for a touring MTB. A robust, rigid frame that can handle a fair amount of load and offers a fairly relaxed riding position, the Centurion-typical Futura coating with...

    1990 Centurion Lhasa Kathmandu

I put some air into the tires and it rode fine. Unfortunately, the bike mechanic installed a different front wheel (Miche hub, Grünert rim) at the time, and the original front wheel with the Suntour XC pro hub and IRC X1 tyre probably ended up in the scrap heap. Fortunately, I still had a...

    1990 Centurion Lhasa Kathmandu

Most of the frames were black/red with white decals. There were also grey/turquoise ones on offer. I think the paintwork or coating in the colours of traditional Tibetan monk's robes is very nice. I've only seen that colour on these bikes so far (although namewise it would also suit a GT...
