Nice. I think perhaps it could be a 1992 model year based on the Exage 500CX groupset.
In '93 there was 400CX and 700CX but no 500CX.

Don't see much of the CX parts around nowadays, so it'd be nice to keep as much of the original stuff as possible.

Ahhh yes... The year the Raleigh apparently specced some of their 1993 range with components from 1992.

For example, the Diablo RS could have had the 'new' back M560 LX but instead had the M550 components.
Whereas the M-Trax 700 used the M560 parts.

It's no wonder I got confused. :)

Small update time

@al sent the 700cx brifters, bloody lovely and thankyou! Comparison to the oder ones make them even better. Brakes and qrs had a quick sctub and brasso, not mint but much better. Chain and cassette have scrubbed up well. Wheels next......

I think it may have been a very early Dynatech series (I don’t recall the variant, beyond it was the literal top variant which were special order) my friend had which got stolen a week later after a three month pre-order wait. By all accounts (i only know two people who owned the only two sold in the local area) in factory setup they were pretty well setup, light, possibly a bit too rigid as both owners end up putting isolastics at the stem and steatpost to reduce the HF vibration that could be (allegedly) hand and ass numbing on a long ride.

Can’t say from experience as i never got to give an example the beans on my usual fast route - but i always kept an eye out in case a frame ever surfaced for project use. I do recall it was either a full STX or XT driveline and selector/brake as factory spec - I think it was the electric blue type metallic finish.

All i do know for sure is the friend who’s one was stolen regretted ever buying it because none of the subsequent replacements felt as well planted and settled when pushed hard. So i guess, allowing for the sentimental percentage, he probably suffered the Kenwood Hifi scenario equivalent to cycling in reverse - ie settling for less because you couldn’t fully replace what you saw as perfection never bodes well for long term happiness.

Take from that what you will.
