Why won’t any v brake pads fit ?

First I bought some Swiss Stop pads but the rattled around and weren’t a tight fit.

So I bought some Shimano pads and the are too long and also not a snug fit

If I put the screw in I can still slide the pads out

What’s going on

And what are the little metal things?

The all in one pads or pad holders should have threads like this for V brakes.
The Deore XT pad holders in your photo are from the Deore XT M737 cantilever brakes and need to be clamped.

Found another V brake pad where you change the pad so basically this is what you need, pull the pin what's circled out and you slide the cartridge pad out and replace then put the pin back in.

Cheers guys…I’m a bit confused tho😂

Here are my units (got a hole for a small screw, not pin).

If someone could throw a link to the correct pads I’d be super grateful
