Is Alexa spying on you?

Ordered some bulbs today from amazon and looked at the orders and saw we had purchased amazon music unlimited

So I thought what.... I don't think so

Had an online chat and had it cancelled but apparently they said I had asked for songs by anthrax and then accepted alexa's offer of joining music unlimited
Maybe I was drunk and didn't listen properly

I don't trust these things

How did they even know the band I had asked for?
 
Not sure, it's bad enough having the laptop and the missus' phone listening in on everything we do never mind one of those infernal things. Good taste in music though.

It is listed in the history, as well as what it thinks you said, as well as a recording what it heard.

They probably only see the listing in the account data.
You'll find it in Alexa setting thing somewhere too.

My youngest son is called Alex so it's bad enough the thing chirping up and interrupting every time you say his name

Don't have one of them neither :D Shenzen market back-alley special CCTV cameras & decent SD cards are the way forward IMO. Plus I don't tend to answer the door unless I'm expecting someone.

Can't you change that amazon rubbish to respond to something other than Alexa? Personally, I'd call it shitbag...
 
Your smart fridge, TV, washing machine, even the partners blender are trying to talk to you also. Personally I am grateful those days to have a wee quick chat with the real postman. Those devices having been taking and using data for many years now.
