We get that. What would you actually pay and go and collect it though (which the OP is basically asking)?

Just to add .... and hope it's not distracting too much from the thread, I went past this bike shop and the sign says "2nd Hand Bikes". They were closed for lunch which was a shame because I was curious just exactly how much these type of Pugs and 'Becanes were selling in the capital. A day...

Pre-WW2 BSA, something of a diamond in the rough I believe

@Mark Manley - love the brutal honesty based on experience. 😍 @PhillB - love the description of the "mind games" going on. 😍 Sort of shows just how almost fragile and personal these projects actually are. Think this is something more unique to the road section and dealing with very vintage...

Agree. Really nice to see, a visual pleasure. All looked poised, well balanced and relaxed - was in a few areas where there is no metro and bus access is difficult like in the Marias, Oberkampf, Canal St Martin and it just dawned on me and felt these bikes suddenly came into their own even with...

This is very nice and well built quality retro bike and all original. Also a bit "exotic". It demands total attention and rebuild. Alas, no gold at the end of the rainbow in these times. At £250 it should shift from under feet.

In it's raw state it looks sharp and looks it's age. Being a sucker for that type of thing I would have been so tempted to clear coat it.

Good thread ...... Personally in the OPs case, if it was me, I wouldn't even bother with the Simplex RD although in all chance it would probably work. Simplex really went about things in a strange way and I would almost argue best pass the Simplex RD along to someone who may need it for a...

Pre-WW2 BSA, something of a diamond in the rough I believe

It doesn't even look tubular - more like the octogonal tube profile found on the Caminargent (1936) and then drilled. Dunno, just a guess considering what was around. Probably a one off and probably went in the bin when it snapped due to unforeseen extra rider weight; like rain soaked piss...

Interesting. I think you would be right. I did note a more slender front rail portion. Uncannily very similar. A nice looking saddle that must have cost a small fortune back in the day. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/388280157794

...it's good to be wrong. This is from a bike part supplier, their 1939 catalogue. Two versions - 54 and 57, both with light metal rails (but too early for Dural I think).

Sure is a novelty that. 🤨 Saddle may be an Ideale with Dural rails, but the dates don't line up either by about a decade. 😵‍💫

Not much from me except more of an observation. I had to go Paris last week (yes, yes, yes ..... I did get fully disenfected after being in La Capital for three days but still managed to catch some dreaded lurgy thing). Anyhow ...... Spent sometime just watching the world go by on a few outdoor...
