    Retro/Classic brakes for a tour.

Thanks - yes it would be nut connected. The Tektro type look fine to me to be honest for what I'm going to do. Can you use the other slide through modern fittings or is it better to use the original nut style? For me as long as it slows me on a Yorkshire hill I'll be happy. 👍Thanks again for advice.

    Retro/Classic brakes for a tour.

Hello. Back again for advice. The two brake sets that came with a project bike are pretty naff after a few short rides. Is there a good quality retro or classic set of touring brakes, I'm happy with side pull if I can get them to work well for a tour with a probable side pannier. I'd prefer more...

Good 27 inch touring tyres ???

Hello - I'm looking to add a pair of new 27 inch touring tyres to a project. I was looking at panaracer protite (I think that's what they're called) but wondering if they are any other options people use. Ideally a little bit trail and tour tread would be great. Thanks.

Help and Advice please - drilled rear stays found

Thanks for your advice folks. I returned the bicycle. No problem at all. And ended up buying a nice Reynolds 531 with Simplex running gear. I've never used or seen much of this but it's a lovely design and is running well on first few rides. It's a (61cm frame) which I've added some bits to to...

Help and Advice please - drilled rear stays found

I I managed to find a pic of a similar bike and you can see an attachment for the rear rack coming from the rear stay of the bicycle. Could this be what has disappeared to this HH and is it worth the repair ?? Thanks folks. Appreciate the advice. Feel a bit gutted. 👍

Help and Advice please - drilled rear stays found

Sorry I know it's not an MTB but it's the frame advice which is really helpful. I wonder if these models (would it be early 80s) did have braze on rear stay rack mounts on. That would be a good start then I could see what the damage is if the holes have been filled. Thanks.

Help and Advice please - drilled rear stays found

Hi - no don't worry at all - I'd rather have the advice on here to be honest. That's interesting as there is what looks to be something filling something like a kind of grey filler as the application of it is not the best. Its a Harry Hall Magny frame so I was pleased when I picked it up but I...

Help and Advice please - drilled rear stays found

Ahhh that's such a relief. So the bike should be structurally safe to ride - I'm ok with the remnants of braze ons. I was just worried it was holes in the frame. Thanks

Help and Advice please - drilled rear stays found

Hello - in the light of day and pre bike pick up excitement I did not , until I got home realised these marks on the rear stays of a bike I picked up today. I personally think they have been previously drilled and filled for a rear rack but the previous owner says it was cosmetic. I'm not...

    Wanted Raleigh 21"

I'm on the look out for a rideable Raleigh - 21" would be great that I can ride as an everyday kind of bike for work. If it needs attention that's ok but more the 21" for my long legs and something to tinker with over the summer 🌞 if we get one 🤠

    Orange Mtb around 2004/05

I think it was this model now I look closer. In 21 inch as it was quite a big MTB. I'm sure mine had red shocks but maybe it didn't. Ok - I think I know what I'm on the lookout for now.

    Orange Mtb around 2004/05

The shocks were red, yes. Think it was an Evo 4 but it had black decals for the orange logo and I think was Matt as opposed to shiny?? I've seen an Evo 6 on eBay but I don't think it was a 6 - sure it was a 4. Thanks 🤘

    Orange Mtb around 2004/05

I actually think I might be a bit off the mark and It may have been an Evo 6 with red forks now I am looking at the pictures on Google...

    Orange Mtb around 2004/05

Hello, I'm trying to find the correct frame/bike I bought back in around 2004/5 that was stolen from outside my uni (admittedly I had a shit lock on it at the time) it was a silver framed orange Mtb hardtail with front shocks in black I think. I think it was an Evo model and id like to try...
