    Early racing tt bike !?

This one is ending in roughly 3 hours - late 1950s road path, Nervex Pro lugs? Lots wrong with it, but a decent basis for a 50s TT bike ;) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172830672127?ul_noapp=true

    Early racing tt bike !?

Please don't let my/our comments put you off to get a 1950s project. All (well most) my bikes are pre 1960, and I like to ride them hard. A bike like Tommy's Flyer track is a typical 1950s road/path frame, made by master builders - responsive and light enough to have some fun with. Just don't...

    Early racing tt bike !?

This will give you a little overview of what people rode in those days http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/time-trials.html In the section reader's bikes you can have a look at machines with (F) behind it - fixed gear machines. Probably from the mid 50s derailleurs slowly entered the scene...

    Early racing tt bike !?

Road/path machines from the 40s/50s would fit the bill. Not close clearances like 70s/80s machines, enough room to fit mudguards was a must ;) These were usually do-it-all machines, for a TT mudguards and brakes were removed - sometimes wheel carriers to bring a set of sprints for the race.

    1953 Ellis Briggs Superbe

Well, Ken didn't actually win the ToB on an Ellis Briggs. Did you know the “Donnez-moi votre bicyclette?” :) I really enjoyed reading this article - if you haven't read it yet, enjoy http://s.telegraph.co.uk/graphics/proje ... index.html How about just adding the name to the top tube, like on...

    1953 Ellis Briggs Superbe

I was so annoyed when I spotted this Ellis Briggs on ebay, because I was sure it was the one from Southend... I gave the chap who sold it a call to buy it, when it went unsold - but someone had collected it the day before. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Ellis ... 1438.l2649 Now I see it is a...

    Diavolo Shoes 43

If you normally have UK 8.5 or 9 and these are slightly small for you, then it should be ok to take the risk. £10 posted in UK right? I will try to send you a pm to discuss how to proceed. Cheers, Rogier

    Diavolo Shoes 43

Interested in these - I normally wear 42.5-43 non cycling shoes. What do you normally wear??? If I can expect these to be a good fit, then yes please :) Tia, Rogier

    1981 Dave Marsh

I had a similar sort of frame, never been able to pin it to a builder. Mine had a Silva style rear brake bridge, Falck tubing, Gipiemme drop outs - just wondering if your frame has similar features. Would be nice to find out who built it, even when it isn't in my possession anymore...

    Armstrong Consort

Nice, and all the way down under :) The Consort appears in this catalogue in the VCC library. http://www.veterancycleclublibrary.org. ... %20Library).pdf Although the VCC has dated the catalogue as 1951, I think 1953 would be more reliable as the GB Sport Brake appeared then. To check your...

    Which Sun model is this?

Yes, those are Bocama lugs, I had the same chrome head lugs on my 1972ish Carlton Criterium. Maybe same era as well, looks like a Sun Snipe variant - although they usually have a different lug set, not this crespera style

    Wowsers.......Thanet.

I know 3 people owning a Silverlight and riding them (with care). All of those were way more expensive than a grand, but in better condition though. It's one of those iconic frame designs from the 1930s-1950s and has a certain appeal to collectors. Just like the Paris Galibier, Baines...

    1937 Maclean Barn find

    1937 Maclean Barn find

Was looking into a unidentified frame (Maclean was suggested), and came across this thread. What a find, to get a pre war Maclean and a Flying Scot like that :) My frame looks very similar indeed, and I found a matching serial on forks and frame: 305 Different location though on the BB shell to...
