My 22.5 measurment was simply straight along the top tube centre to centre seat tube to headtube. if you measure per that drawing it is slightly longer though not quite 23.5 inches. It is the correct frame size for my size and shape. If it helps you any I had a 2008 Kona Caldera which was...

My 17 inch measurment is from centre BB to centre seat tube/top tube join which is my understanding of how Kona frames are sized. Centre BB to top of seat tube is closer to 19 inches. I am 5 10 and frame size is perfect....does that sound right now?? Centre seat tube to centre head tube...
