Do you think this is a Raleigh frame? Its been resprayed..

Thanks systembuilder, its long finished and being used by my wife now! I think in hindsight it is a late 80s Falcon san remo or similar. Has all the same details and serial format as this: https://www.roadbikereview.com/threads/can-anyone-confirm-model-name-on-1988-falcon-531c.366144/ maybe if...

Another unknown 80s frame wrap seat stays?

Another discovery after more measuring. The fork crown is 27mm so JIS. Assuming they are the original forks for the frame does this give anyone any more clues to identify more accurately? 51cm seat tube 68mm bb bsa thread 27mm seatpost 27mm JIS fork crown, 30mm headtube cup size. Did Uk...

Another unknown 80s frame wrap seat stays?

*update* a 27mm seatpost fits perfectly so it seems more likely a 531st. Should still be a nice and light ride once built though!

Do you think this is a Raleigh frame? Its been resprayed..

Yeah they had some some rust and flaky paint in and around so i took them off with a small hacksaw and filed the bump off before a shoeshine. I put new ones on the under side just using a map torch and some silver flo 55. I also took off the left downtube braze on. Just aiming for a clean and...

Yeah I figured its a Falcon san remo or similar. From other threads with pics of bb. If the adhessive on the head badge fails I will give a it a falcon one.

Another unknown 80s frame wrap seat stays?

So in theory i 'could' take off a little of the excess overhang of the plate if i am careful with the angle. I just like the wrap around the seat tube i hadn't seen it before..

Another unknown 80s frame wrap seat stays?

Is it strange the seat stay caps are not filed? I was going to build it up and ride it for a bit beofre i decide on filling the few small dings and respraying.. if i do that can you see any problem with carefully filing them down to flush with the seat stay?

Another unknown 80s frame wrap seat stays?

Thanks hamster really useful! I tried a 27.2 in it and its a no go. And i had a 26.8 from another that seemed to fit it perfectly. Might see if it fits with a 0.2 shim before i replace the 26.8

Another unknown 80s frame wrap seat stays?

Thanks for the input! First i've heard of Witcomb but having a quick read that would be nice if it were! and would explain the English bb. It feels very similar weight to the 531c I did but if the difference is a few hundred grams i would struggle to confirm without taking the other to bits...

Another unknown 80s frame wrap seat stays?

I've done it again and bought a random resprayed unbranded frame as i like the size, weight and lug style...it has some nice details: wrapped oversized seat stay caps, heart shape lugs and panier/rack braze ons.. Any ideas what i have here? Maybe 80's? It has: -68mm bb shell BSA -26.8...

Well spotted that was for a few rides but I switched it for an old 46t stronglight (on the other pic) to see if it was nicer to ride. Its got a 13-28 7 speed on it so i thought the 48t might not be that different to my 11-28 8 speed with a 44t but it was a bit different... might pair that sakae...

Do you think this is a Raleigh frame? Its been resprayed..

If anyones interested i finished this bike and its a lovely retro ride! And now my wife can keep up and manage the hills of Bristol alot easier happy days. Hopefully the paint lasts a few years with a 2k clear. Im still not 100% it was a raleigh and not a falcon 531 but still not a super...

Cheers for replies. The bottom bracket shell is 67/68mm. The headtube doesnt seem to have rivet holes but i havent taken the forks out to feel the inside. I have an adhesive raleigh headbadge i got for a winner in also doing up but its too big for the gap between the lugs of the short...
