Retrobike National Event Series: Forest of Dean 14th May

Sounds like prime Proflex terrain. Yes? I'm checking for the weekend and will add my name to the list ASAP. As I missed out on Cannock (although I am riding there 1-2 times a week at the moment - any takers?) and FoD is close to home I am super keen to meet up with you lot (first time since...

Retrobike National Event Series: Cannock 27-12-10 POSTPONED

As sad as it is to hear of a cancelled ride I am happy this one has been. To explain, I've just arrived in the UK but my bikes haven't yet and I am working within 10 mins of Cannock Chase. I would hate to miss the oppurtunity to meet some of you particularly somewhere which is such easy...

    Australian Retro Roll Call

No go for Saturday. Just too much to do. Enjoy if you get out there. It'll be a bit wet I reckon.

    Australian Retro Roll Call

Well, I was there. I've said it before, I forget how good the Proflex was/is. I standby my comments I made on one of my other threads about it being a bit flexible in the rear but still, it steers and climbs beautifully. There may just be a slim chance on one last attempt for a ride on...

    Australian Retro Roll Call

Right. Time for the last ride in Australia! Didn't get to the places I wanted to get a ride in but did do Woodend and The Otways. For those interested I'll be in the Lysterfield main carpark at 8.00 this Saturday. Mixed group of people so don't expect an epic ride. More just a last social...

    97 Proflex

Sorry to take so long to reply Skinny Boy. Sounds like a good idea. I really want to do a last ride in a couple of spots, Woodend, You Yangs, Otways, before I go. I'll PM you details.

    A couple of my bikes.

Yeah, bit of a fan. Bought up some sets when I had the chance.

    A couple of my bikes.

Just to prove these aren't show ponies. Taken yesterday at Woodend, 68k (40ml) nw of Melbourne. A purpose built, singletrack loop. Sorry about the quality, phone shots in fading light

    97 Proflex

Just a few finishing touches to go. I took it out for a shake down run on the weekend. It definitely needs a new set of chain rings. I've got some Middleburns ordered. Also, I should've put batteries in the camera and I should've checked I had water in the Camelback. Other than those things...

Pre RetroBike sins of the flesh.

I sold a pair of Z1 Bombers with disc mounts on both legs.....before they standardized discs on the left.......I don't know, is this a sin?

    Rare obtainable bikes.

Re: slingshot Just missed out on one in the late nineties, before I really knew what it was. It was just a cool bike. Other than that, I have a hankering for a carbon Klein Mantra or a Schwinn Straight Six (or eight)

    Which brand and why

For me it's the design, particularly FS. When you look at my 97 Proflex, 98 LTS and 98 Giant 980 they are only two years apart but lightyears apart in thinking. It was a very adventurous time for FS design. I find it utterly fascinating.......and fun to ride too!
