I decided to use these Suntour XC pedals instead of the originals because I want at least one bike without toe clips. This will be my first bike without toe clips since I was 15 years old. Might be hard to get used to, I think I'll feel like I'm about to fall off while I'm riding.

Thanks. That's true, they had high end lugged mountain bikes into the 90s, the Project series of hybrids, and the one I wanted most in the mid 90s - a cyclocross frame/fork.

I tried some weak paint remover but it ate into the original paint, so I'll sandblast it and repaint. I also started cleaning up the parts. I rebuilt the pedals and cleaned up the dust caps.
