I had to umm and aaah about the pros and cons of refitting the girvins. Oddly it never had girvins in my ownership. I bought it at 1 year old in 1998 and the guy who got it from new must have switched to Pace in that period. Never ridden Girvins before. I quite fancy some more D/H focussed...

Well, having ordered a set of decals from Mr Gil_m I am committed to refurbing this beasty asap.... Its not a re-paint job, just a strip down, frame strip down, polish? relacquer and re-sticker up. Any tips for along the way accepted. Things I am thinking of off the top of my head 1)...

I'm out sadly. :( Managed to break my recently purchased (off here) XT mech and won't be able to get a replacement in time.

I'm still in at the moment although my crank/BB area is making an awful noise when pedalling hard. Think it is going to need some work :(

Aha fair enough. I never realised they use different ones for other frame sizes, but that makes sense. :)

Interesting to see you have a different shocker on yours to mine. I assumed mine was the correct type of shock that came on a 957. Mine's got a damper reservoir on it. This is a 957 stats picture I have referred to a few times.

Nice machine! I love my 'Flex. Not a huge fan of the bar-ends on riser bars, but thats just me. I just grips on mine, nowt else
