I found that stretching my calf muscles really helped cure the problem. Not had it again since and I’m careful to make sure I stretch before and after running or cycling.
Tyre clearance is good, that’s a 38mm Crossroads fitted at the moment, but could probably fit a 47mm tyre without difficulty. I’ll see what I can find secondhand and experiment.
I present to you the “Not-So-Simple” built as a pub bike that I don’t have to worry about leaving unattended…
It’s actually really good fun off-road too, despite the frame not being designed for 700c wheels.
