I’ve just sprayed wd40 inside round the cup .
Was thinking about trying to break / shatter it by clamping it in the vice on both of the flats , hardened steel will be hard to cut I reckon ?
Hi all , I’m trying to remove this bearing cup on the drive side , left handed thread .
It does about one turn then starts to lock up so I’m pretty sure it’s starting to cross thread , you can see by the photos it’s a bit skee wiff .
Any suggestions on how to remove it ? I’ve tried this threaded...
Im putting this down to a hair line crack but If anyone else is running vintage bars I’d give them a check over or better still change them for something newer.
These we’re GB Randonneur‘s & I’m guessing around 1950’s or 60’s so yeah pretty bloody old but I never guessed this would happen ...

Curious to know , is the machined top nut a nice snug fit over the steerer tube or is that what the o-ring is for ?
And do the spacers push down to on the O-ring to remove any play .
Those standard 1 1/8 split tapered washers do a good job of removing any play so i just wondered how yours...
Not sure on the bottom one , the gusset Is similar to an ammaco or puch and early mongooses but it’s definatley not a mongoose .
The welds don’t look very tidy so I’d imagine a fairly low end frame .
The rear drop out shape would be the best way to identify I think .
A very long shot but no harm in asking ,
I’m I need of a Straddle cable & yoke to suit my Modolo Rocky Canti’s so I can use them again .
