Just picked this up. Its my first road bike and I've picked it up to get me back into riding after a back injury from mtb.
Absolutely love it and had my first ride today in over 4 months. I have a bit of a love for bikes from the 90's, so this just seemed to fit the bill.
The shock mount is holding up great and no sign of lateral flex in the setup. I do have to check the shock bolts before each ride though as they do seem to like to work loose just enough for a little play to be in the system. Probably time for me to use some locktite.

I'm pretty sure that...
I'm feeling pretty bad, I raced the bike yesterday in some pretty horrendous conditions. Sort of weather I would normally reserve for my Single Speed.
Actually before the race the track was great, during the pre-race rider briefing it bucketed down and didn't stop till the last lap...
As a Palace fan, can you tell me what the go is with Nicky Carle? He was tearing the A-League apart, did well in Turkey then went to the championship and completely disappeared.
Seems to have struggled for a run with both Bristol and Crystal Palace. He was getting a run with the national...
Good to see people like it. Even while I was building it I wasn't sure I had done the right thing by modifying the swingarm and building it up modern. For a while it felt like I was doing the wrong thing and I should have been putting the girvins on.
After riding it though, I really think...
I support the Newcastle United Jets. They play in the Australian a-league. Not been a great season this year, currently in fourth with three games to go and no chance of making the qualifying spot for the Asian Champions League.
Up against North Queensland tonight who have Fowler up front...
After I built this I was told by some friends I should come here and post some pics of my new bike.
After finding cracks in my 955 and 855 (I will put pics of them up later) and not having the period parts amassed to complete my 854 I decided to do a modern version of the 856.
First off I...
Definitely '96 and probably early on in the frame run as it has the hole in the seat tube for the canti brakes.
Nice looking bike though, I'm yet to see a blue one in the flesh.
I just picked up an 854 frame with Vector for for $50 australian dollars. I think to the rest of the world that is the equivalent of two peanuts.
I was going to go down the road of new elastomers from Rapid descent for the front and rear of my bike. Like a few others here I can't get my head...
Loving this thread. I had been following your posts on the proflex forum, but you have a lot more on here.
Great to see the way this has evolved. I ended up getting around the mech/swingarm clearance issue by going 1x9 with my setup.
I'll be checking back here though to see how it...
Hey,
Probably should introduce myself. I'm a not of a proflex fan from Australia and have a few of them in the shed.
- 854 undergoing restoration
- 955 built up generally to period spec with the exception of a few bits.
- 855 in need of repair to a small crack
- 856 that has just been...
