Couple of updates. Added repro flanged Mushroom grips to lean into the motocross aesthetic coming from the levers that came along with the bike. They're a bit funny as they are older (I think) than the spec’d M730 groupset but never had a bike with a set and think they're pretty cool. Added a...
Thanks Roy. Yes, the post came out. It was an SR maybe. I liked it because it was silver but it didn't survive the bench vise. Would have loved a Suntour XC Pro but my only 26.8 in the bin was an XT – not in love with the black I don't think but it'll work.
Update on the Thunderbolt. Couple of as-founds, Derek Bailey serial numbers and a JB Weld pinhole fix. Happy to have gotten a little more done sooner than expected. I've got a one month old in the living room so have moved my stand upstairs to hangout with my kid and wife while getting to put...
I think I’ve seen yours. You’ve had a thread going for a while? Black one perhaps? Can’t recall.
Yes, I’ve got the stem too. It’s also a fillet brazed Rocky stem, assuming made by Bailey as well. No serial on it but the fork and frame do have matching serial numbers. I’ll throw some photos up...

But ya. Perhaps...
Thanks for the tip! I’ve heard of BMX dudes doing citric acid baths on chrome or nickel frame sets but never oxalic acid! I’ll look into it.
I’ve been using an awesome product called Evapo-Rust for all kinds of stuff but it would be far to pricy to do a frame bath in. On the other hand, I’ve...
This will be a slooooooow one but figured I’d start a thread for fun. I’ve got lots of as-found images I’ll share later but why not get it started.
Found a $100 Thunderbolt ($600 by the time the dust settled) a couple of weeks ago and despite it not being my size, I couldn’t be happier… Well...
This will be a slow burn but figured I’d throw up a forum post in hopes of it motivating me to get my ass in gear over the winter.
This bike popped up on marketplace in BC and was priced pretty darn low, making it look a little suspect to some. Which given that there’s some shifty people about...
