    1998 Kona Hot

Yea - agreed Al, but its time for someone else to put some miles on it... I'd let the fully equipped rig go for an even $1000 if anyone is interested. Its time.....

Re: Pip - that link to the old 98 Black Hot nails exactly mine. No chain-stay brace and no seat stay rack eyelets. Thanks for the redirection.

    1998 Kona Hot

I know that there are tons of oddities surrounding the whole Hot Saga. But I was curious if anyone else has a 98 Hot that is a full 853 build w/o the rack eyelets in the seat stays. It seems all the ones I've seen posted here have the rack eyes. Mine does not. And Damn Pip I like the build...

Re: I love my Hot of the same Era... It is rare, exotic and mind boggling fast. I raced it a few times, but it really shines on long slogging rides with lots of climbing. That said....I always wanted that era of the Hei Heinor the King Kahuna. Love me some ti! Pip - fantastic job assembling...

Re: No historic pix of the MG Hot, Canuck may have them tho, I'd sent him some back in 2014. And it was in fact built by MG, not Altitude. But the frame is long gone at this point.....

Re: That sure is a pretty rig Pip. The Hots sure are mean and lean. Lucky you that you are only seeing rain. We are in the middle of a polar vortex and the temps have barely gotten into the single digits! Spinning wheels are but a figment of the imagination currently. Ride her hard!

Re: I split up another Hot that I had my hands on a couple of years ago for a friend. It did ok with the parts fetching pretty good coin and the frame ended up in a tight bidding war if I remember correctly. The frame was a pretty rare Mountain Goat built 96 Hot with the goat drop-outs. Not...

OK, tell me about the Kona Hot...

The other cool thing about the Mountain Goat Hots was that they used the MG drop-outs on the 96s frame-sets. I had one I moved a few years ago and for the life of me couldn't tell what the deal was with the design on the dropout.... Then it hit me... By the way - MG is back in business...

    1998 Kona Hot

Hey crew, I've been dodging this move for close to 4 years, but the time has come. I am finally parting ways with my trusty Hot. I am the original owner, bought it for myself as a wedding present when I was a shop manager back in the late 90's. I had been selling Kona's since 95' and had always...

    1998 Kona Hot

Re: The last of the Hots Great looking rig man! Amazing how good of shape it was/is in. Definitely low use! Rider her Hard and Fast! Guys, I just posted my 98 Hot on the "How Much is It worth" page. Similar vintage, actually was welded up even later in the run than Pip's. Full 853 frame...

Jax... I totally get that. Obviously the paint and decals are off (and some would say fork), but the bike it's self is pretty dialed in to the era over all. Will be interesting to see what folks say though! I'm going to try to get it some more exposure in its own thread......

Re: 1998 Kona Hot yea - hope someone chimes in that's in the know! I'd have though higher considering part list. I'd guess the frame alone is worth what you quoted.....
