Nope, still the originals front and back (LX)

...one thing I can't get working though is the triple front shift with the old LX chains. I can choose any 2! Guessing the spacing on the older chainsets is wider than the new ones, otherwise doesn't make sense to me as I got the triple shift Sora levers.

Thanks, happy with it. Combination feels fine so far. Have enough power in them to lock up if necessary!

Wasn't expecting them to work from what I had read but feel pretty good actually. Don't know if the Avid V use less cable pull than the Shimano V and that is why they work okay.

An update - still going strong and a bit of a rebuild the other weekend into a drop handlebar adventure bike setup to see how it goes. So far so good...

Re: Kona Back in the UK and listened to you......bars are now black, plus a Kona saddle plus a new (correctly sized) seat post clamp.

Think this is a 1999 model - I got it 1998 or 1999 so around then anyway. Just found some of the old bits I changed off it so thought I would clean it up and build it back up as original for old times sake! Now need to spend some money to get the forks serviced as not looked at for about 10...

Thanks - colour worked out well I think and powder coating has proven so durable compared to the old paint. Was originally purple too - see clip from catalogue below......

Re: Kona Not thinking of changing kit at all really as still purring! Think I'll wait until I break something although wouldn't mind finding an original Kona 165 handlebar and get the old X-lite bar ends back on :) Right on all counts on the technical although was an earlier plastic...

Just on a trip back to the UK and dragged my old 1991 Kona Lava Dome down from the loft and got it running again. Also added some decals I had got having had the frame powder coated about 10 years ago! Thought I'd post a photo in case anyone interested. Still rides great I pleased to say...
