    Extreme Randonneuring going on.

Here is a comparison of the distance of the previous record, and the distance Solfiane rode in less time (until his arrest). Back in 2017, Jonas Deichmann set the current record, riding 14,331 km in the process. Traveling across central Asia has never been straightforward, and Jonas’ trip was...

Solfiane has been detained in Russia. https://www.renehersecycles.com/sofiane-detained-in-russia/ I wonder if Macron's threat of boots on the ground had anything to do with this?

Can Carbon rims be considered Retro?

It will take me a few months to get everything I need. But I really like seat of the pants experience instead of theorizing. I have the hubs, by the time the rims arrive I think I can afford the spokes. It's not going to happen all at once. Rene Herse has kept 26" alive with his full race...

Can Carbon rims be considered Retro?

In the US it's more like $350. I could skip the Berds and put the carbon rims on my Mavic wheels, but the loss of a set of vintage Mavics would be a cost also. I liked my Rene Herse extralight slicks. The weight loss was really nice. I'm looking for more of the same in the carbon rims, and the...

    US small item tariffs.

Jan Heine is big on touring and long distance racing so miles per year is probably pretty good there. When I needed some cranks threaded for a front freewheel I got them form S&S cycles in UK, not Rene Herse. Oh and they were Chinese Shun Sheng cranks. The same ones Robin Thorn uses on his...

Of course if they did the same thing in France it would be absolutely wonderful old world craftsmanship. I'm not sure what the RH business model actually is. He makes wonderful 26" racing slicks in MTB size. The market for those is probably incredibly small. He wanted them for his own personal...

    US small item tariffs.

Very few bikes in the US have Campy parts. Mostly MTB based stuff here. Road bikes never caught on very much. Once upon a time Schwinn made more bicycles than everyone else combined. Trek used to build here. There are some hand made metal MTBs made. I'm afraid the derailleur is "friction", but...

We have Rene Herse for that lightweight retro-pean stuff.

There's been a court ruling that Trump doesn't have the authority to impose all these tariffs. He's claiming National Emergency Powers. The court has given him until Oct. to appeal this. Of course by then it probably will be an emergency. Russian Nuclear Icebreakers will probably be bringing...

    Extreme Randonneuring going on.

Well here it is. Attempt and Progress: Sehili launched his solo, unsupported journey on July 1, 2025, from Cabo da Roca, Portugal, aiming to break the 64-day record for the 16,000+ km route to Vladivostok, Russia.27 By early September, he had traversed Europe, Turkey, Kazakhstan, and the...

That's not entirely true. I'm using Michelin Latex inner tubes in 26". BUT they were "Not for sale in the US" before tariffs. I had to find a vendor someplace else who would ship them to me. So it's the French that are the problem.

Rene Herse has an article on tariffs. It's pretty long, and not so much about the small item tariff. but thebicycle industry as a whole. https://www.renehersecycles.com/bikes-in-the-age-of-tariffs/

NOS, nice. A Berd spoke job and done. But nobody ships to the US anymore.....

Don't worry, everything here is imported now anyway.
