HeadShok Stem Project - Quick Poll Inside

Having never actually had my hands on one I always thought they were 1.5".

For some people it's too late for the helmet to provide any benefit.

HeadShok Stem Project - Quick Poll Inside

I always wanted a Headshock bike, but never found one. I was surprised to learn that they weigh less than my Rockshox SID. Cannondale Lfty carried on for quite a while after Headshox. Do those stems fit? I'm sure what you've made is much nicer.

    Latex inner tubes updated

I never figured out the other inner tube. I would have had to drill a brand new wheelset out for the Schrader valve. But everything is working so far with the new tube. Rides great, and the air loss is manageable. No flats. I used a lot of talc this time.

    Dog_boy’s 2002 Gary Fisher supercal 29er

Trek, Gary Fisher, and Klein all required a frame adapter to IS brake mount. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D5GHVJ75?tag=bravesoftwa04-20&linkCode=osi&th=1&psc=1&language=en_US They were scarce for a while, but repros abound on Amazon. GF 29ers had a patented G2 geometry. Fork offset was part of...

Comparing 1x vs. 2x by the numbers.

For years 2x5 was the definition of an "English Racer" here in the US. Even if it was a Schwinn. For people of a certain age this is what "10 speed" means.

1997 Marin Hawk Hill restomod - not one for the purists!

I suspect the vintage sized ones are made to order. It took a while to arrive here (US). Color options also.

Comparing 1x vs. 2x by the numbers.

I agree with chain retention on 1x. I'm running a Front Freewheel setup with a locked out rear freewheel. This can actually push slack into the top of the chain. N/W ring, and SS cage Zee are handling it with the clutch turned off. No hard MTB use though. But the clutch is there if needed for...

Comparing 1x vs. 2x by the numbers.

Both my bikes went from 2004 3x8 to 1x8 Ebike, 1x11 XC bike. I skipped 2x completely. So I looked into it. At the top of the cassettte there are only 2 possible gear spreads, 1t jump (11t to 12t), or 2t jump (11t to 13t). If you have a tiny MTB chainring that may not be a problem. With a...

Comparing 1x vs. 2x by the numbers.

Having modded my old 3x8 XC bike to 1x11 using a Zee M640 derailleur intended for 2x10s DH bikes. I wondered what if anything I was missing out on. I ran both setups at Sheldon Brown's Bicycle Gear Calculator. https://www.sheldonbrown.com/gear-calc.html 42x11-42t 11s top gear = 26.5mph @ 90rpm...

Wanted Mavic Wheels (max, ride, link etc) or others

I'm not sure the Crossrides were ever very popular here. Not strong enough for the headbangers, and not light enough for the racers. Nice for street riding. But that's not popular here either, and skinny 700c is where those riders are. I'd like to have a spare set. But not in black.

Wanted Mavic Wheels (max, ride, link etc) or others

I've seen people in the US asking twice what the Crossrides sold for new, for 20yo used wheels. But the Crossmax have always been expensive.
