Is my USE seatpost going to kill me?

Now that is a good idea for salvaging the thing. Any recommendations on where I might find the world's strongest bolts?

    Youtube Retro Bike Channels

Ha, the hatebike is down the side of the shed growing moss and another winter's worth of rust. If I find more horrid parts then at some point I'll resurrect it - it could make a fun Part 2. Those gripshifts are beyond vile aren't they?

Is my USE seatpost going to kill me?

It does look like a deathtrap doesn't it? Probably because it is. Yes, the bottom plate (the semi-cylindrical cradle the rails sit on) just sits there, it's not fixed to anything. So if (when) one of those bolts gives the whole thing grenades and the rider dies. I'm starting to like the...

    Youtube Retro Bike Channels

Belated thanks for the kind words - I am indeed registered here but not as regular a user as I would like. And you are of course 100% correct, my channel is the best on the whole internet.

Is my USE seatpost going to kill me?

I'm not even joking - this thing is scaring me. Every time I ride the clamp clicks and creaks like it's about to fail catastrophically. All I can think about when riding is the saddle snapping out from under me and pitching me under a bus. Can any experts on metal fatigue, or USE historians, let...

    Onza ules

There was an official relaunch recently, but these were lock-on versions which obviously wouldn't be period correct for one of my YouTube famous builds! The original first gen ones remain hard to find unfortunately. Porcipaws too I fear.

    Onza ules

Sorry guys, they already got taken today - they're going to end up on none other than the Youtube-famous Rob Warner World Cup build! So watch out for the video drop and you'll see them. Good luck with the hunt for some more. They occasionally pop up on eBay for silly money but I found mine in a...

Just noticed this, several months later - but also saw no replies! Anyway, yes I have a NOS pair in yellow, unused and still in packaging. Let me know if you're still looking.

Raleigh Dyna Tech appreciation and information thread

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvE5YhLb2WQ Is this the first ever Dyna Tech MTB restoration on YouTube? Hope you like it, and will welcome comments from experts. Please note there are later vids on my channel where this gets upgraded and restored a little further - it's currently looking at...

Dilemma: Build '94 Diamond Back as 'rat' XTR or 'nice' XT?

Hmm, personally I'd clean up and use as much of that XTR as possible and archive all that lovely XT (it's too nice to sell!). Otherwise the bars and stem on that Trek are keepers but the rest can go in the bin. The Diamond Back is a far more interesting and nicer frame in my opinion, but there...

    Retrobike heaven on YouTube!

Just wanted to come on here and recommend the greatest YouTube channel of all time: mine. https://www.youtube.com/user/oliverches ... subscriber I've been doing bike/adventure vids for years, but since lockdown have been focusing on the workshop, specifically builds and restorations. And the...

April 2011 BoTM 98+ 'singlespeed special' - Nominations

We must be getting old when 1999 is considered retro! This is one of my newer bikes. 1999 S-Works M4 singlespeed. By no means a garage queen, this takes an absolute hammering all winter. I think it's my current favourite bike.

Best uses for old bike parts?

@drystonepaul, actually I only ever had one XT canti brake. Back in '93 I had the XT on the front and a Dia-Compe 987 on the back. Yes, that was in the vase... My back door keyring is a few links of the aforementioned chrome Sedis Silver chain. God damn, I'm a nerd.

Best uses for old bike parts?

I don't mean to brag, but I have the coolest keyring in the world. It's a polished up straddle cable and pip from a '93 XT canti brake, joined to the keys by a plate from a chromed Sedis Silver 7-speed chain. I also use a 1st-gen Rapidfire shifter and an LX hub as desk ornaments, and an XTR...
