I have a 1992/3 Specialized RockHopper; does anybody know what type of steel tubing alloys they used in that time frame?

Very strange indeed: the drop-out slots for the rear axle are also 9mm nominal diameter....... How was a FH-HG50 hub ever attached to this frame?

Re: No reason other than I want an identical spare set of axles to do some machining work on them (modifications) I'm sure the original New Old Stock Shimano axles are just fine for quality. WheelMaster doesn't make it easy to find the axles I need, the tech descriptions are pretty damned vague.

Were original '92-era Shimano axles supposed to be 9 or 10mm diam? The reason I ask is that my current wheels and hubs now are non-standard, not even Shimano- Weinman 519. They are 9mm diam axles. I don't have access to the Shimano hubs I plan to use so I can measure them....... I'm going to...

Re: Will do, thanks! Last week I passed up a beautiful pair of ST M320's on EBay (US), and I've been screeching and cursing ever since.......Murphy's Law is a constant!

I'd like to keep my '93 Rockhopper as close to stock as possible. I'm looking for the Shimano shifter/brake combo ST-M320 set, or just the left hand. Besides the obvious, EBay and this WTB forum, are there any other MTB classifieds I should try?

I missed out on a superb EBay deal for this shifter set in great shape, and threw myself a proper tantrum....... A set in good condition would be ideal, but I'd also take just the left hand shifter/brake too.

I'm slowly getting my ancient and venerable Rockhopper roadworthy. Is there info somewhere which will tell me which model number of Exage derailleurs I've got? (weight weenies helped a bit, but a bit vague) Thanks!

I need to replace the middle chainring from my Ancient and Venerable '93 Rockhopper. Looks like the previous owner(s) wasn't big on adjusting the shifter or derailleur- there is some fairly serious gouging and wear. None of the "modern" new 36t chainrings has this type of pickup pins (plates)...

Anyone remember the years the Zefal hp pump was made? The hp was all the rage among my mad teen bicycling Clan in the mid-late 1970's. If you had a Zefal, you were beyond "Cool" and approaching "Cosmic" 8) I know they never made it over to this side of the Pond until maybe 1976 (?)
