    Identify mystery suspension bike?

A BIG heads up. Many thanks for that, and sorry for posting in the wrong area (bike age was unknown). After I posted the question I went back to scanning photos via Google Images and since then discovered it being a big hit, 2005 is my guess. I did not know of the flaw though. The seller can...

    Identify mystery suspension bike?

M friend told me he could score this bike cheap, but we can't identify the make. The owner thinks it's an old Intense, but it doesn't look like any I've seen. It resembles a mid 2000's Big Hit, but the swingarm triangle appears a little different from those I've seen. Not sure of the age...

    Any love for Guerciotti here?

Shifting is fine since it's a non-index shifting system. Modern front shifters/derailleurs are more sensitive to said gap size.

If your overly sensitive look away now !!!!

Re: frame Funny. I was just thinking WHY would you get on it?

Things that make your heart drop

I believe the lifetime warranty is only a warranty from manufacturing defects. If it had cracked lengthwise along a weld then you would have a claim. The unusual crack across 2 welds and bridging 2 tubes could be looked at as overstressed due to abuse, whether it has been subjected to such...

    Show us your Specialized

Here's my other Specialized single-speed conversion, done for a friend. As mentioned with the previous white Rock Hopper bike mod, my friend's sister rode said bike for one year before upgrading to a '98 Stump Jumper. Well, here's that 'Jumper in the "flesh". She rode this bike for 3 more...

I went with Tektro 538s, which seemed to have just enough reach to work. Note in the photo that the front pads are set to their minimum reach on the brake arms, while the back is maxed at the maximum reach. JUST made it. I used the same brakes on my Diamondback Wildwood modded with 700c...

    Anyone heard of Pacific Cycles???

My younger brother bought a rigid Pacific mtn. bike way back in the early 90's from Toys-R-Us for $200. Pretty good quality for the price at the time.

    Long Stem Short Stem???

Well, that depends on steerer angle and frame make. Some brands have slacker angles, and likewise some have a long 'cockpit' and others short. For instance, my Schwinn S95.2 has a top tube 1-1/2 inches longer stem-to-seat tube than my older Trek 7000, even both measured the same height. Going...

Dunno if you will like my modded vintage 'Hopper project. I just couldn't take the pink & purple anymore. Started the task with a worn & dirty Rock Hopper Ultra...The bare frame was purchased by me new in 1997 as an old-stock closeout item for only $50. Built up for my riding buddy's sister...

    1995 Specialized FSR Suspension Debate

I think I like the look of the Yellow Judy up front, like the example in this thread: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=109649 However, he apparently added a yellow "S" decal on the head tube of that FSR that may have improved it's look with a yellow RS fork. Your color...

    Identify early 80's Nishiki?

Thank you. Yepperz. You've heard of handlebar mustaches,... then why not a mustache handlebar? Of course it's an inverted low-riser bar. Flipping them put me in a better riding position, wind-drag wise.

    Identify early 80's Nishiki?

Wimpy parts, but a nice,double-butted 4130 chromoly frame. That could make for the foundation of a sweet road machine....hmmmm. Nishiki no more. being a low end model, I decided to rebuild it as a custom single-speed. I repainted the rims of a set of wheels from a Schwinn Rampage white...
