Repainted Carlton with nice lugs - but which one..?

I'll chime in, nice Capella lugs like Shaun said. Should the forks have the same lugs? I have 3 mid 70s Raleigh's all with the same fork crown so I'll assume hi-ten there. Again I have the same brake bridge on 4 mid 70s Raleigh's. Matthew

    Identifying a 1970s? Carlton

The pieces of the puzzle are coming together! Thanks everyone of your valued contributions. Shaun you have better eyesight than mine - I can't read the Bates ad copy text at all! It makes sense that it was offered as a frame as the components on the listed bike are mismatched and low end. Thanks...

    Identifying a 1970s? Carlton

Hi Shaun, thanks for your input here. I'm having trouble identifying the model and year. It's a listing and the seller knows very little about the bike and thinks it's very valuable!!! I have no serial number to offer, can you identify the approximate year from the decals? I doubt very much is...

    Identifying a 1970s? Carlton

Hi all, anyone know what the frame is here, I'm wondering if it's 531 as it has forged dropouts. Also what is the model / year approx / American/English market etc. and what was original from new? Sorry no other pics available.

1975 Raleigh Grand Prix FD Clamp Size

So I need to replace the FD on the Grand Prix and want to get the right size clamp for it's skinny 20-30 tubing. Some Ebayers are listing a 1" clamp FD for Raleighs. The original was a delrin Simplex, long gone and I chucked on an old Suntour temporarily from the parts bin but doubt if that was...

    How many do you need

You could sew them into some material and make a fancy vest.

Raleigh TI TEAM racer full Campagnola im collecting tomorrow

Re: Wish I could give a definitive answer. Have had to sacrifice 2 head stems that were seized. One I paid someone to remove as I had no joy. No good result to report. Be gentle and patient if it's stuck and you won't at least damage the frame removing it (like I did).

    WTD: Longer reaching bars

You could go back a few decades and fit a 'T' shaped seat post from a tandem setup, cut the front tube off and fit the seat clamp at the rear where the handlebars would normally go. The other suggestion that you don't want to hear is a larger frame.

A friend of mine built a similar age F Moser with Dura Ace 7400. Looks and works fantastic.

Advice Needed - 1975 Raleigh Grand Prix Decals

Re: Re: That is a beautiful bike! Hope it get a ride once in a while! H Lloyd is the place for Reynolds decals I believe but wasn't able to help me with my request. Have had some luck with Velocals though. They're making up a set which is great of them as the Grand Prix wasn't a high end...

    Raleigh ti team

Will be interested to hear from forum members about the specifics of this bike as I'm unfamiliar with the differences between Team, SBDU etc.

    Looking for advice for retro-commuter

If I was building a commuter first thing I'd do is fit 28/32 or 35mm puncture proof tyres and full guards. Get a decent frame the right size in 531/501 or Chromoly with forged dropouts and eyelets for guards/racks. Decent 36h QR 700c wheels - Campagnolo or Shimano hubs, DB spokes and box section...

    Help - Campagnolo hubs ID

Re: Yes it's a tricky one Shaun. Maybe measuring the front wheel bearings will give a clue, from memory Tipos had 7/32. Pity the original skewers are missing. Matthew

Re: Not sure about that Shaun, have a look at the lip where the base of the flange meets the axle casing. I've got nothing BTW, had a look at velobase on my phone but hard to see. They look1980s
