I put it onto ebay in the end as I found that I didn't have the time to get it sorted. Its new owner has got a little bit of work to do but it is a runner.

Still not done anything with it other than buy some new pivot bearings. I have bought two siblings for it though, a Marin Palisades in grey and fluoro yellow and a GT Karakoram in purple.

Thanks both, It truly is an abomination in its current condition and with the rack but it might be salvageable if the rear triangle is okay. I'll post some after pics if there is a "happy ending". It was only £30.

Sadly the rear triangle doesn't count when it comes to the frame warranty. I can get one in black from Trek but it costs an arm and a leg. The triangle from a Klein Adept is the same apparently.
