Thanks for comments. The RC31's are 1 1/8" steerer. I managed to get the shim out of the crown race, stuck it in the freezer for a couple of hours and they soon came apart. The crown race is now fitted onto the RC31's with no shim, so I can only imagine that they are designed that way with...

Thanks for the reply. I suspect that there is a shim just like the eBay one stuck in the crown race that's been removed and that if I can separate them the race will slide over the RC31's odd looking shim. Jamie

Seatposts are 27.0mm, not sure on front mech size but can check mine out if you need? I've got one of the later ones with vibration damping, have never tried one without but does it really make much difference?
