    Dawes Horizon Advice

Thank you for the advice everyone. @legrandefromage - I wasn't aware of a Touriste. I've been looking at Randonneurs but nothing in my size has appeared in my searches. I'll keep an eye out for one of this now too, thank you. @oaklec - I had seen that, thank you, but at 56cm it's a bit too big...

    Dawes Horizon Advice

Thank you both, I really appreciate it. @oaklec - I'm trying to spend as little as possible, in the current climate and as I don't actually *need* one, and thought a Galaxy more expensive? @legrandefromage - by low spec do you mean the groupset? Would it not be functional enough? I'm not too...

    Dawes Horizon Advice

Hello! I'm looking for a piece of advice, if possible, on a Dawes Horizon I've seen on EBay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/285081796209 I'm looking for a steel frame that'd do a bit of light touring along the coast this year, and the above Dawes looks just the job and a bit of a bargain to boot...

    Super Galaxy Sizing

Thank you, I really appreciate your explanation. My fixed gear and my gravel bike are both 55cm ETT (and both have 'compact' geometry). If I opted for a 21 - 21.5" frame in a Galaxy or something with traditional geometry, the ETT is somewhat longer. I guess that's where stem length comes into play.

    Super Galaxy Sizing

Thank you! Where does the top tube (or ETT, at least) come into it?

    Super Galaxy Sizing

Ahh, OK - as I feared. Thanks Hamster. It looked slightly too long in the pics but thought I'd check. Much appreciated.

    Super Galaxy Sizing

Afternoon all, I'd be really grateful for some sizing advice if possible please! I've seen a Dawes Super Galaxy on Facebook Marketplace (with older horizontal top tube geometry) which looks pretty much ideal. The chap selling listed the size as 22.5/23". I'm unfamiliar with old(er)school sizing...

    Wanted Kaffenback or Pompino

Hi all, as per the title really - looking for a Planet X Kaffenback, or On One Pompino, in medium. Later models preferred ideally. If anyone has either for sale I'd be grateful for a heads up, thank you.

    Dawes Sterling Approximate Date

😆 that took me a second to work out! A friend told me about it because he knew I have a thing for steel frames and a hankering for a touring bike. I'll go and have a look tomorrow I think.

    Dawes Sterling Approximate Date

Thank you - does the potentially earlier date cause an issue with regards to parts availability? Part of the attraction for me was the simplicity - cup and cone hubs, serviceable headset etc. I thought the price was ok but I'm used to the increase in used bike prices over the last two years, so...

    Dawes Sterling Approximate Date

Thanks very much chaps, I really appreciate it. It's advertised at £199 I think. I'll go take another look armed with measurements from my gravel bike and fixed gear. This is a better pic, from the listing - it looks more 54 proportions here I think . It does look particularly nice.

    Dawes Sterling Approximate Date

Hi there, I'm hoping that you more knowledgeable chaps could help me date a bike. It's a Dawes Sterling tourer that has appeared in my local bike shop for sale at a very reasonable price. I like a steel bike any way, and this scratches an itch for a steel tourer. It's 8spd Acera with a triple up...
