cheers old ned, let me know when you find out. i have been in touch with some of the bike shops near me who stock retro bikes, and a decent selection of 2nd hand parts, but they seem to suggest unless someone has a backplate/nut going spare then its more likely i will have to get a new shifter...

Hi I'm looking for a replacement nut and backplate for the rear Simplex downtube shifter (see picture attached). Does anyone have a spare/know where I might be able to find one for it? Happy to pay, and cover postage costs. Cheers, Nick
