Hi, my Raleighs are measured from the centre of the BB to the top of the seat tube, where the post goes in - so C-T-T. Others please correct me if you think I'm wrong though!

For Sale 1988 Raleigh Royal - 23.5 inch - Amazing original condition - new photos and open to offers

Hi all, I took the advice above and have put everything back to the original spec, and as close to the 1987/1988 brochure as possible. I'm also now open to offers :) I'll keep it here over the weekend, but will move to ebay next week if no one is interested. Cheers!

For Sale 1988 Raleigh Royal - 23.5 inch - Amazing original condition - new photos and open to offers

Just asking for some views here, but other than size(!) :) do you think it would be better to put this back to completely original (rather than my preference), to help sell it? It's such a nice bike, even the original rubbers on the brake levers are like new, and not worn/cracked at all.

Raleigh Royal vs Randonneur later '80s early '90s

Hi, I've got a Raleigh Royal for sale at the moment on this very forum :) I have a 33 inch inside leg and the bike is set up for me at 76cm from the BB to the top of the seat, if it's helpful to gauge size. Mine's a 23.5 inch/60cm...

For Sale 1988 Raleigh Royal - 23.5 inch - Amazing original condition - new photos and open to offers

Hi, I'm selling my Raleigh Royal that I've had a couple of years, which has only done a few hundred miles with a trip to Normandy last year. One previous owner, who owned this bike from new and has the original handbook, sales literature, tool kit, purchase receipt, and even a signed card from...

Modern compact 50/34 chainset on 90's braze-on frame

Thanks for the reassurance, I'll see how it goes and get an extension kit if needed.

Modern compact 50/34 chainset on 90's braze-on frame

Hi, could you please let me know if they'll be any problems with my upgrade to a modern compact chainset on a 90's braze-on frame? There's about a 7mm gap at the moment (should be 2-3mm!). The FD is at the bottom of the frame's braze-on, so there's no more adjustment available. It shifts fine...

6 speed Campag freewheel/hub to Shimano?

Thanks for the replies, that makes life easier for me :) So, I shouldn't have any issue using a Shimano freewheel on the Campag hub?

6 speed Campag freewheel/hub to Shimano?

Doh! I see that now, thanks! Hmm...it's not clear from what I can see on Sheldon Brown's site re Campag vs Shimano freewheels (https://www.sheldonbrown.com/freewheels.html) I'm assuming the Campag hub is Italian threaded and a Shimano freewheel would be ISO threaded? not a lot of...

6 speed Campag freewheel/hub to Shimano?

Hi, I've just picked up a 1989 'Abilita' built by Paul Wilkins in Dorset, and have a quick question regarding Campag freewheel/hub/Shimano freewheel compatibility. The guy I bought it from used to race it and it has a really small block on the back, something like 14-20, and I'm really...

1978 Holdsworth Championship - fixed or single for winter?

Thanks pigman, that's reassuring. I'm not fussed about making it a 'fixie' (I don't like that term either). I'm too old to learn riding fixed, and hear it's not good for your knees, either. I will definitely be keeping both brakes, but may go all out and get some aero brake levers for a cleaner...

1978 Holdsworth Championship - fixed or single for winter?

Looking further into this, I think the easiest thing is just to keep the 5 speed block at the back. The chainset is 50-40 and the cassette is 14-17-20-22-24. The chainline looks fine in the 50x20, so am thinking of just keeping it like that, which gives me a 65.75" ratio (it's hilly round...
