The picture is your old one? Record Sprint SE, only available from Catalogues, had lower spec silver components and silver decals rather than gold fairly rare beast these days..

Production ceased at Worksop in 1981 but Raleigh continued to use the W prefix for bikes built at the Lightweight Unit in Ilkeston

'85 it is then :-) '86 has 501SL Forks and the Shimano '105' Golden Arrow headset, yours will have a Tange Headset

Nice :-) Is it an '85 or 86 model? (later ones only main tubes 501, the frame number will reveal its age) I've got a 1986, completely original apart from the bar tape

It has mudguard eyes, so it's not a 'racer' as such

I doubt the decals are original to the frame.. I've come across them once before, and believe these decals were available for aftermarket fit only.. It's more likely to be a 1984 frame based on what Muddy paw has said, some pics of the lugs may help identify it

ex team bike? Cyfac can probably ID it, has M J C 189 197 stamped on the BB and forks

That's it :-) Not a lightweight, but built in the main factory at Nottingham Wheels may have been changed at some point, its 29 years old after all! Looking at yours its had the rear mech changed for the Sachs Huret standard Raleigh one at some point, and lost its Shimano Adamas brake levers...
