They were made in Gutersloh , then West Germany. I had one as a youngster and was a birthday present ( a 3 speed Tour de France model with Simplex and Huret gears) - went to the factory to choose it - I was 10 at the time (1975) . Most were purchased by forces personnel as there was RAF...
After an age trying to find out what the original Team Peugeot bikes were equipped with I thought stuff it ! It is an actual Team issue frame and I have built it up with Campagnolo Super Record. Maybe not a purist option but I am pleased with the results. The Peugeot Aneto was a copy of this...

I have my old Raleigh Panasonic Lo Pro which was built for me which I believe was/is the only Lo Pro done in the Panasonic Team colours and nickel plated/Chrome rather than the usual white as on my Team 753 ;)

It also has the 'later' plastic cable guide under the bottom bracket rather than the two slots that the cable runs through (eventually ruining the bottom bracket).With this info I am led to beleive that it is infact a 'resprayed' Panasonic frame in 753T - off course I am open...
It is a genuine SBDU 753 I have had the bike a few years and it is genuine and no part of the frame has been replaced. The rear wheel is not off center - it is just the angle of the photo.My Panasonic SBDU built for me by G'o' Donavan in 1985 as a time trial special also has these rear stays.
