Not a bad buy for anyone in the Cambridgeshire area

wierd - could be dodgy - of could just be someone that has genuinely moved house. In my case - people probably think the same - as I split my time between Kent and Powys counties and store bikes at each location - maybe its someone like me - or maybe its someone dodgy - tread carefully on...

storage solution for the family's bikes in the corner of the garage

in another store of mine I have the somewhat hefty HipLoc frame locks I use on my brother and my Cube eMTBs but they work quite well for peace of mind as a security solution. They were still cheaper than buying inurance for a year on those bikes

storage solution for the family's bikes in the corner of the garage

yes I saw those two and probably better for your wheels too - as they are supported by the tyres and still hinged - 👍 gets my vote as an even better solution really PS I love your Kestrel MTB - that was one of my dream bikes as a lad - but so where the Merlin/Ridgeback that appeared with it in...

storage solution for the family's bikes in the corner of the garage

I discovered the (German made I think) - Velo hinge (not cheap - mk1 is £25ish if you shop around, but the latest version is £45ea). Still it worked for me in the space we had - and all the modern bikes we use are neatly stacked and folded away - with the two Scott eBikes - mounted underneath...

For Sale 56cm Dave Yates 531 road bike (converted to comfort 700c hybrid) - great price £255/£145

Many thanks - it is one of those bikes that rides "greater than the sum of its parts". The off the peg modern Shimano R500 road wheelset and Specialized tyres transformed it when I was rebuilding it from what was originally a bit of a basket case that had sat in someone's shed for years on its...

lovely old timers those - I rode the factory/museum in Bologna one year and that is a wonderful display of all the models from the past and examples of your bikes are certainly in their collection as they have pretty much one of every bike on display.

For Sale 56cm Dave Yates 531 road bike (converted to comfort 700c hybrid) - great price £255/£145

I've decided to build another general purpose bike to replace my Dave Yates local hack, and what a great lightweight run-about this 3x8 fast-road flat-bar conversion is. Its actually a lovely old late '80s 531 hadnbuilt F&F by Mr Yates as a lightweight road-bike of its day. It was clearly...

I hear that too Shedobits & History Man - I wish you both all the best healthwise too. I found a pic of a coupld old special Ducatis I had previously - gone now also a few years back. The first one was a 1981 early Hailwood replica (a monsterous 900cc V-twin that was kick start only - I broke...

Specialized M2 Team Edition (Metal Matrix Composite) One of the most rewarding refurbs I ever did - some lucky blighter got it of me on ebay - as I had to put it up for sale after finishing it because the pandemic hit and work pay got effected for over a year. Would have been a lovely one to...

fitting a 1" quil stem to a 1,1/4" oversize headset also for quil stems.

That's what I'm thinking - and with a series of cuts around the base extending up as far as the 1" expanding wedge moves to (so that the shim can 'fan-out' and grip as the expanding wedge moves) As Junonada says - beware or corrosion and seized components some a coating of something like...

fitting a 1" quil stem to a 1,1/4" oversize headset also for quil stems.

Thanks for your thoughts, yes, its an interesting conondrum - I guess might be just as easy to chop the 1" quil off and weld a 1,14" quil on - but its all to do with: a) can it be done without ruining the bars, b) will it be safe to ride. I thought someone out there might say "sure, see this...

Wanted Klein Attitude or adroit 1992 Gator, horizon or sunburst

What size is the frame on that, Klein's are quite deceptive on frame sizes - it 'looks' about my size but baring in mind my Attitude above measures at about 19.5" - I think this Adroit could be a good 21-22"? (unless they changed the geometry alot between say 92-94) 👍
