    Wanted 30.4 seatpost, 350mm length

As per the title. Need more seatpost in my Specialized Rockhopper which came with the usual single bolt mild layback post but about 50mm too short. So something similar but longer, if anyone's got one.

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

I did have a front headset-mounted hanger in the spares box and being a 1 1/8th threadless steerer (the joys of 1999!) I can stick that on there and the front actually has bags of room anyway, unless I go to an even bigger tire. It's the rear that has space issues hence the short hanger...

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

Mini-Vs aren't going to work, both the straddle wire and brake shoes are too low to fit those wheels. So definitely need cantis. Previous experience with these tiny frames where the rear triangle/seatstays are so shallow is that my heel would hit my Tektro canti on the rear as it sticks out...

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

Update: found a 1999 Rockhopper in the same size, much cheaper and close to home. Bit rusty but a good start -- if I love it, I will look to upgrade the frameset at a later date. Came with a 9 speed LX rapid fire, but 8 speed cassette and chain. Anyway I have fitted it with 650b wheels...

Whats selling like now on ebay ?.

Exact same experience here when I first got on ebay, a few items were "never delivered" and I got ripped off. I think just by indicating in the listing that you're sending it recorded, the scammers see it and don't bother and find another easier victim in another auction. Also probably doesn't...

Whats selling like now on ebay ?.

Just be careful with bidders with 0 or very low feedback, and always send items to be signed for and charge the appropriate postage for it. There is no negative feedback for buyers anymore, and if a buyer insists they never got the item they can appeal and ebay will always take the buyer's side...

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

Very good advice all round. On the point of your last sentence though: I've found a 13.5" Stumpjumper M2 in green, 1998, with some mods: "1998 Z1 BAM forks, Magura race lines, mavic D521 rear rim with XT/LX 9 speed" 200 quid. Pics look nice. Says it's been stored in the dry and nothing...

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

So looking at a few Marins relatively close to me on Ebay, I'm wondering a bit about size. They all appear to be 15.5" so 17" in other framesets (? apparently Marin measured c-to-c?) and for that size the toptubes are around 22" so ~550mm which is a fair bit longer than my road and CX bikes...

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

Ah good to know about the Inbred! I've just googled and can see there have been 14" framesets for sale from time to time, will keep an eye out. 16" would definitely be too big I think.

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

On-Ones tend to run big I think. That Inbred looks massive, according to this blog even in 2003 it had long and low geometry? https://muddymoles.org.uk/bikes/on-one-inbred-2003-geometry The 16" (smallest size?) definitely looks too big. For reference I ride pretty much the smallest road and...

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

Stumbled across and read all 18 pages of this thread, lots of great stuff to digest. Lurking here for some time but now thinking I should post and see if anyone can help. Having recently moved to Wessex near the Ridgeway, I've decided neither my 700c CX race bike nor my 650b lockdown special...
