    British Eagle Touristique - 531ST

Re: The British Eagle Touristique 531st is in my opinion the best machine British Eagle ever produced before their decline. The front forks should already be drilled on the outers in order to accept a pannier rack....I have two here ! One bike has had the inner forks drilled (by Mercian) also...

Touring wheels for 1989/90 British Eagle Touristique

Re: I forgot to mention, bike is still running on the original (I presume) Shimano HG50 rear hub with seven speed 12-28 cassette. I've never had the need to remove the cassette as everything works as sweet as a nut, I'm presuming that this cassette will slide straight on to a Tiagra freehub...

Re: Thanks for the tips, I'll check them out. When it comes to hubs (especially the rear), what is the difference between Tiagra and Deore....does it matter ?

Touring wheels for 1989/90 British Eagle Touristique

Just resurected a British Eagle Touristique 531st, and as I want to keep it in its "original" set-up (Shimano Triple SG Biopace, Exage 500, 7 speed HG50, down tube shifters, cantilevers etc), I'm just wondering what wheels to go for (the original front vanished a long time ago, and the rear is...

British Eagle Touristique low rider rack attachments.

Well, the forks are off and stripped and ready to be dealt with. I don't have the equipment to drill and/or braze the fork "inners/eyes" myself, have so far located three people that can do the job....nearest is 100 miles away ! I would like to think that this is a "bread and butter" job for a...

    I don't have a catalogue....but I'm sure they've been around since at least the early 80's !

British Eagle Touristique low rider rack attachments.

Hi Jeff, I have the sexier looking original 80's Blackburn racks here (I think the later ones have Taiwan/CD stamped on the rear of the Blackburn logo). In order to get it how I want it, I will have to get the two mid fork inner bosses added to supplement the original outer bosses already in...

British Eagle Touristique low rider rack attachments.

Thanks for that, I'm not an expert in this field....but will it "go" with a mid 80's theme ?

British Eagle Touristique low rider rack attachments.

Thanks for the information and suggestion, I had tried it out with the racks anchored at just two points....and within ten miles or so one of them did start to rotate towards the spokes ! I'll try and locate the Blackburn design for forks without braze-ons and have a think about it, I just...

British Eagle Touristique low rider rack attachments.

Could anyone advise on low rider rack attachment points for a mid 80's British Eagle Touristique (531st). I have original mid 80's Blackburn low rider racks that need attaching to the forks at three points, one at the drop-out eye and the other two at mid-way up the fork. The original fork...

British Eagle Touristique low rider rack attachments.

Can anyone advise on mid 80's British Eagle Touristique (531st) low rider attachment points for a Blackburn low rider rack (s). The original 531 forks have an attachment eye on the outer side of the fork, but not on the inside. The rack needs to be attached on both sides of the fork. Don't want...
