Re:
@mattr
Thanks, but I’m fine on that front. I have two 18” frames, one totally stripped (new forks intended for it) and one fully built (that I tested the new forks on). They’re both 94-96 steel Konas, so should have near identical head tube length.
@CTK
Thanks also. The issue is that...
Re:
I hadn’t realised it could be that easy. Thanks, Matt! I’ll look into that.
To be clearer, the frame these forks are eventually intended for isn’t yet fitted with a headset. I was just trying them out on another 18” frame as a test - swapping them for the 142mm P2s already on the bike...
I picked up some '96 TB P2s for a decent price, but they're from a 19' frame (162mm threaded) and I was hoping to fit them to an 18" '96 Kona frame. I'd hoped the threads would go low enough that, with some spacers, it would all fit together and I'd get a taller stack into the bargain (nice for...
Re:
I’d love to buy it if I had the space - my perfect size.
I had a nice chat the other day with someone commutes on one - we pulled up at the lights together, him on a 93 Prestige and me on a 94 Kilauea - and it was clear that he couldn’t have adored it more.
If it doesn’t sell now, I’ll...
Re:
I thought about that too, as it would be nice to have more choice of stems and bars, but I decided it would make sense only if the goal was a new fork. I didn’t want to waste a perfectly good set of TB P2 forks for the sake of an aheadset.
Re:
I just went through the same thing with an 18” 94 Kilauea. The low stack height of the Impact/Control Center led me to believe the options were Chris King GripNut, Tange-Seiki Falcon FL270C, or an NOS vintage Shimano from eBay.
The Shimano’s aren’t sealed and the stack height varies...
