I was a Panaracer Stradius sport evangelist for years - thousands of puncture free miles on a tyre that wasn't totally dead. Then they stopped making them and I went the Pasela route. Ironically I was fine on them doing 20 miles a day commuting in London but moving to the wilds of east...
Have you seen this fella? Seems to do full services on old nags - including full freewheel refurbs where I suspect most people would just junk them.
I'm guessing the only way to make that kind of activity pay is through grabbing YT subs.
Yeah, I kind of like that flutter/ wobble (though I never saw it in 'drive' / forward motion of the freewheel, only freewheeling. I accept its probably not doing anything for efficiency.
I would hate to have to work on cheap ebikes - just as plasticine as a cheap bike but more complexity and...

The search for decent freewheels - the challenge facing every remaining screw on rider. OEM Shimano freewheels are as you point out going to have gearing firmly on the macho side with corn on the cob gaps. They considered a 21T largest sprocket a concession! Regina and the like...theres going to...
Looks like a proper cyclocross frame - top routed cables and no bosses for water bottles, bottom bracket looks high. Gear shifter from a flat barred bike and looks to be thrown on to make it function with gears. No bar ends suggests bar end shifters were there before. Its potentially a cheap way...
Jesus Mary and Jospeh and the wee donkeys....what is it with people finding Rene Herse and Roberts and the like down the tip? A fricking Raleigh Eclipse is the best I ever got 😂😂😂
Incredible find...I kind of want to know how much you paid but also don't, IYKWIM..
A great write up and a situation that will strike a chord with many here. Personally if you can't find someone in the fam or close by who would appreciate riding this then the charity route has the ring of whats right. Its still a great looking bike and has many many miles ahead of it.
