Yeh that's what I did. From the dropout to the brake shoe at maximum adjustment it measures 13". I had assumed it was a 17" but now I think it is probably 16"! :facepalm:

1958(?) Dawes Merit Model,what is the correct wheel size 27*1 1/4 or 26 1 3/8?

I am restoring a Dawes Merit Model, believed to be 1958. Can someone please tell me the wheel size? I have just obtained the correct brakes and from the axle center line to the outside edge of the brake block measures 13" at maximum size on the adjuster>
