Ha ha !! Well I guess that shows it still gets used (or at least did a couple of years ago!)... It's a little bit cleaner at the moment...
Can'y make up my mind what to do with it - was (and kind of still is) my pride and joy, but it's getting neglected. Every so often I decide I'm going to...
Thanks for the replies - I was just a little unsure 'cos of the age of the bike whether I could just use a new Shimano 7 speed chain. I thought I remembered the old Deore 'hyperglide' (!) biopace demanded a specific chain - but if not so then great (though some might think it important to stay...
I basically have exactly the same bike as the BotM Jan 2010 (though absolutely not anywhere near 'box fresh'!) - and need to put a new chain on it. Can anyone tell me where to get a nos chain for 20+ yr old deore biopace?
Cheers
Oh man...
You're mocking me! Where did you get that picture of my bike from so long ago!!!
I've been trying to stay practical about this - but that just makes me feel like I'm being irreversibly, irresistibly dragged into something I didn't expect... namely to 'keep it original'. Won't...
Update - had some fun with the gear puller, neat tool, does what it's supposed to........
Anyway.. I finally finished sawing the crank off and wondered where to go next!
Should I replace just the crank - where would I get an original / suitable one?
Or given the state of the...

Yes - I was hoping to keep using the cranks. The thread is only there for removal right? So I thought I'd buy the cheap gear puller and try that. If no joy then I guessI'll resort to the sawing!
Have a look....
I'm hoping the cranks are okay. I have a lot of movement in the bottom bracket - which I want to get out to see if it just needs a regrease or new bearings - or replacing. The posts above are advising to service rather than replace.
I'm keen to do the work myself - just because I've had the...
The pic above appears to be for one that costs £95 at Halfords - can the cheapo ones like THIS do the job just as well for me?
Sorry to ask so many (probably) dumb questions!
Thanks for all the replies...
I read through them earlier and decided I needed to have a look at the state of the inside of the bottom bracket - but can't get the first crank off! It must be rusted solid I think - but now it I've ruined the entire inside thread of the crank! The tool was all...
