This is my recent addition to the ever growing bike stable.
It's a 90s Raleigh M-Trax race 100.
Nothing too special but it is pretty much brand new and completely original, I'm guessing it's been ridden a couple of times and kept in a shed/garage somewhere.
There doesn't appear to be too much...
Re:
I have pretty much cobbled it together to take it out for a ride, cheap Clark’s v brakes seem to be a big improvement on the cantis it came with but there is much room for improvement
Re:
If you email the photos back you yourself through the apple email app you can choose to send them as small and when you save them from the email they will be the correct size
Re:
I haven’t been sure on the P2’s I have had on the bike, the rake seemed massive in them.
I did find another set of forks in the garage but I am also not sure on these, they are 430mm long and I think this may mess up the geometry too much the rock shox it came with and the P2’s were both...
Re:
A little progress has been made.
I have set up the drivetrain using the original front and rear derailleurs with a 9 speed chain, cassette and saint shifter.
I couldn’t make my mind up over changing the rear derailleur with a gripshift I had or buying a new derailleur, it seems that...
Re:
Fir play to you for sticking at it and getting the best bits.
For me bikes are made to ride, even if it is only on that one day with perfect weather so you don't ruin it. There is no use having a dream bike in pieces if you cannot appreciate how it rides.
I say build it ride it, clean it...
It does feel pretty light but that is compared to my one one 456 evo (that thing weighs a tonne). Not sure overall on the weight, I'll weigh it once it's done
Re:
Yes the forks are 410mm P2s, the shorter ones would be better but I've had my ones lying about for about 15 or more years.
I will just have to see how it rides, if it's too bad I'll probably put the Rock Shox back on. Likely it may not make too much of a difference overall?
I have just...
Re:
Made a little bit of progress today, stripped most of the old kit off the frame and test fitted the forks and a different wheel set.
I need to swap hubs on the wheel I'm going to use on the front and I'm not sure I like the bars I've put on, they were the only ones that would fit the stem...
Re:
I Had heard mixed reviews over the feel of the frame, this will be for light off road and a bit of road use so I hope the flex doesnt bother me too much.
I picked up a 1995 Raleigh M-Trax Ti1000 last night as a retro project.
It was a great price with mid 90s Raleigh bikes not being as cool as the more exotic Konas ect, but these era bikes are unusual with the mix of tubing types and the frames were hand built in England (nothing gets built here...
