Well that was harder than I remembered it used to be, back in the days when I used to race in Gorrick races. How on earth anyone manages anything longer than 45k for events like the HONC is beyond me. Still, it was an initial stake in the ground.

OK, I got a response back, and they sound pretty laid back about the definition: Hi James, the bike sounds suitably "Retro" to me. As long as the main frame is circa pre 98 then we're happy. We understand that tyre, grips and the like will fail so you have to update. Thanks Matt

Less work to just enter with the Elites and ride around with the Retro guys who start 1 minute later.

Oh ye gads. I am building up a Voodoo Bizango, and the group is a mix of 737 (pre-98) but 4 arm 739 cranks, which look like they are 1998. The forks are Bomber Z2's, but there is a little "98" stamped on the inside leg of the fork. FFS.

I've picked up a Voodoo Bizango which I am doing up with thoughts of entering some Cannock/Gorrick/HONC etc events this year. Its in pretty decent condition, with Marzzochi Z2's and XT M737 throughout, except the wheels. I've sourced some cool looking new Bonty Maverick rims and new M737 hubs...

Arrived, as new, thanks. They will be going into some Z2 Light forks from 1998, with Motul 7.5w oil. I looked into the Marzocchi tech docs for fork setup, and they specify no detergents, and fully synthetic, which rules out lots of fork oil. Found the wiki by Peter Verdone with fork oil CST...
