    Damaged IRD seatpost

I was under the impression that the cracked piece was bonded to the main seatpost part, but I was able to remove it. As @ishaw said, I'll find a 1/2" aluminum rod and make a new part, it shouldn't be too hard!

    Steel Syncros stem

Thank you for the answers! For now, I plan to keep it, as I’ll most likely use it in a future project.

    Damaged IRD seatpost

I made a separate thread about an old Cannondale I found here. One of the parts it came with is this IRD seatpost, which was a pleasant surprise! Something less pleasant was finding out that the beam used to tighten the saddle has a crack... Could it be replaced or realistically repaired? I...

    Steel Syncros stem

I made a separate thread about an old Cannondale I found here. One of the parts it came with is this 1" Syncros stem, which is surprisingly made out of steel and not aluminum. It also uses an expander and not an wedge like "regular" Syncros stems. I would appreciate some insight, did Syncros...

    Late-80s Cannondale (SM1000?)

I recently picked up a nice old Cannondale that's full of interesting parts. Some are in great shape, some… not so much! I’ll do a separate thread on some components soon. The frame is in rough shape, though I haven’t found anything bad enough to write it off entirely. One of the cable...

    Steel 1992 Rocky Mountain Vertex

This project has been on ice for the past few weeks. However, the snow is quickly melting here, so I've made some progress recently to get it ready to ride ASAP! I built the wheels with XTR hubs and Mavic M231 rims. The Smoke and Dart combo seemed like the perfect choice! For the fork, I...

BoTM Bike of The Month February 2025 "lugged special", now taking entries

Great theme for this month! Here’s mine : @Guigui58 1985 Miyata Ridge Runner SE. The Ridge Runner SE shares the same triple-butted, lugged frame as the standard Ridge Runner. However, it came equipped with a full Deore XT groupset and extra braze-ons, including mounting points for a third...

    Steel 1992 Rocky Mountain Vertex

I received the new decals in early January and finally got around to applying them. Now it looks like the real deal! I got them made by retrodecals, highly recommended 👍

    Ritchey Ascent Comp 1989 updates

Interesting, thank you for the information! I like that they're making new Megabites, I might grab a pair! They would be perfect for this Ritchey. For now, though, they seem to be out of stock or still unreleased. No issues with the front brake cable yet

    Ritchey Ascent Comp 1989 updates

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of the giant tire logos either... Good idea to black them out! These Vittoria Mezcal tires are some of my favorites for all-around use, so I've been tolerating the logos so far 😂

    Ritchey Ascent Comp 1989 updates

Sorry, I don't know the brand or model of these pedals. I found them on a bike I repaired some time ago...

    Ritchey Ascent Comp 1989 updates

Some updates: I ended up buying the Ritchey Ascent Comp! The holiday break gave me plenty of time to work on it. The biggest task was cleaning the frame and fork. The previous owner had it stored next to his workbench, where he worked a lot with resin and silicone. What looked like dirt was...

    Ritchey Ascent Comp (1990) questions

Thank you all for the advice and knowledge, I had fun reading Ritchey catalogs this morning! I talked to the guy, he agreed to lower its price to 500$ CAD. I'll go have a look this afternoon; depending on the condition, I might just take it at that price. Good thing it is a short drive from...

    Ritchey Ascent Comp (1990) questions

Exactly! Although, to be fair, the price in Canadian dollars (1000$ CAD is around £550).
