I've got the right covers now. Mines are 7 speed, interchangeable between friction and indexed. I was too excited to get out on it so I haven't indexed them yet. Are there names for the covers then or are they just braze on and clamp on covers? Thank you for your replies!

I am putting together a 97 Peugeot but hit a problem installing the downtube shifters. As you can see in the picture, there are huge gaps between the washer and the frame but it's as far as I can push them onto the bosses. The right shifter won't actually stay on because the washer is so far...
