Merlin violated-not for the faint hearted

You envious filthy bastards, don't you dare to question the owner's taste, doh!? Form & function blended together splendidly!

Merlin violated-not for the faint hearted

Interesting build, but with all the stuff included can be somehow a good deal too... https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/merlin-26-titan-fahrrad-superlative/3070378036-217-1902

    What is this bike

From a company offering these (Ritchey WCS tubeset with Breezer dropouts, limited to 999 worldwide, this bike is not OEM, mind, I bought it as is), sad to see this heresy, sorry OP...

    Fat Chance Ti 😳

Maybe this is the last period in our lifetime to find that committed buyer while they're still alive... People under 40 just don't get the hype, my sweet summer children🙄

    '91 Team Marin restoration (slow)

Any freezing spray will do do the job, they're usually marked on with the lowest possible temperature - the lower, the better.

    '91 Team Marin restoration (slow)

If the seatpost is stuck, I'd try the freezing method. Chemical bonds are very tight, so you need a proper remedy. Clamp the seatpost into a vice, frame is upside down now. Wrap some sponge material around the seattube where the seatpost stays. Remove BB, and get the strongest freezing spray...

'93-4 (?) Marin Team Issue non-cat spec (sorry, purists) 👀

Derelict I must say, but saveable. If that Ti seat can speak... So I'd give it a cheap but nice powdercoat (black for the forks), some Ti bling from CCP, M735/737 XT or M900 XTR stuff and here's a lightweight weapon for fast singletracks/pub runs. So a proper resto object is this bike. Is the...

How Many Bikes Do You Think You Have Owned Over The Years….?

Can't really tell, but one time they barely fitted in my garage: Funny how these bikes on the pictures above are already a distant memory as they are sold on since. Currently I got about 30-40 framesets and roughly enough parts to build them up. Some "keepers" aren't the perfect fit me for me...

    Anti-theft parts bin sh*tter.

Just don't get offended when some bikethief eventually donate their heist to you out of pity - great results so far!

    Anti-theft parts bin sh*tter.

My go-to town bike is a 26"er city bike, frame from the '60s (gaspipe special edition) saved from the attic of my parents by yours truly at age of 12, thirtysomething years ago. I had it powercoated recently, built from carefully selected parts, and here we go with an unassuming lookin'...

Full rigid 90's Stumpjumper vs full rigid 90's Marin? Any other decent quality full rigid 90's brands that won't break the bank?

TREK, Univega, Bontrager, Scott Racing series, Diamond Back Axis, pretty much everything made from Tange Ultimate Ultra/Superlight, Ritchey Logic/Prestige/WCS/ Nitanium, True Temper OX series, Reynolds 531 & up, Columbus high end suff, Dedacciai top series. Make sure the wall thickness is...

A question on XTR, XT and LX mechs on 90's MTB

For me, it's always the cost/weight/function ratio what matters. M737/9 short cage rear mechs are the same weight as XTR ones for half a cost, and look lovely with their polished frontplate/full alloy backplate. For cantis/8sp. the ST-M567 is the lightest Big S STI, and works flawlessly. I...

    2025 Time Warp build thread

Nice rig! DBs are criminally underrated, same quality as Marins/TREKs/etc. and sturdy mofos as well! Well, having about 4 of them slowly turned me a fan obviously...

    Worst/Funniest experiences buying used bikes?

Worst: I mainly buy bikes or parts via mail/ courier. Too lazy/cheap to crank the old V8 up to pick them up and much more eco-friendlier this way. Rarely, if any problems occured during hundreds of transactions, carefully try to avoid dodgy deals anyway. In Hungary old Schwinn MTBs are rare...
