    1954 Lenton Sports build thread

If it was my bike, I would file the axles and not touch the drop outs. I have done it many times and never had a problem.

    1948 CB Short Wheelbase Tandem

Pictures of your front and rear rims and hubs? I'm thinking that the front wheel might be original. Take a look at where your front brake pad sits in the slots of the brake. How much can the pads slide up to accommodate a larger (700c) rim. Keep looking for seat posts that might fit. I think...

    1948 CB Short Wheelbase Tandem

I hope you enjoy it. My girlfriend and I rode our 20 something year old Santana tandem around Mendocino last week. I have a 1938? CB USB single speed tandem with modern wheels. I will be following your progress.

I hadn't noticed. I see it now. I would put a hite rite on there. Not many bikes had braze-ons for hite rites. My Richman does.

I think that he made far too many and continued selling them extremely slowly for a very long time. You could review old mtb mags from different years and look at actual people's bikes to see when they were not used as much.

    Scott bars had it?

If it was mine, I would strip and polish or paint, but... I don't weigh a lot and I rarely break things.

I don't remember exactly, but on my first real mtbs (Ritchey, Cunningham, Trailmaster) in the early mid 1980s, I used hite rites. We would often lower our seats before steep downhills. I think that sometime around 1990, I was becoming more comfortable riding down steep hills without lowering the...

    CB tandem

I agree about the wheels and bars. I'd like to know what the originals were. They are replacements on my bike too. Mine has drops front and rear with a long steel badged Cinelli stem. My wheels are 700c with modern hubs. This one and mine are the single speed version, so no Cyclo. The geared...

    CB tandem

WOW, I never ever see the single speed versions of these tandems. I have one. Can anyone comment on the correctness of the parts? Thanks, Chris

    Does Tha Ride Tandem?

I might respond later, with more detail, but that tandem is Extraordinary! It is not what I would recommend a "newbie tandem rider" to buy. Being aluminum and that old, raises safety concerns, for the historic tandem.

    Bash guard ID???

When I have time, I will look for mine. I remember that I had to cut away part of it in order to fit on my Cook Bros cranks. It was so long ago, I don't remember the name of the manufacturer. It might be the same, probably is, mine is black.
